M.S.O.
What is My School Online?
My School Online (MSO) is Miami-Dade County Public
Schools’ (MDCPS) distance learning option for those
students in grades K-12 who wish to continue their
education full-time through innovative learning
environments but still maintain their enrollment status at
their brick and mortar schools. MSO students will have
their attendance taken as they participate in
classes online during regular school hours and follow a
standard school schedule. Teachers in MSO meet daily
with their students utilizing web conferencing technology
embedded within the platform. MSO also affords students
the opportunity for whole-group and small-
group instruction, personalized learning, and support
services, such as guidance and mental health counseling,
interventions, and therapies as needed.
Reopening of School
COMPONENTS OF STUDENT’S DAY ON M.S.O.
1. Teachers will be able to interface with their entire class, a small group of students, or individual students through teleconferencing software Newrow (like Zoom).
2. During lessons, teachers can respond to students’ questions and provide real-time support and progress monitoring.
3. While logged onto the platform, students can access lessons, interact with peers, and complete group work and/or group projects.
4. Additionally, teachers will be able to host parent and student conferences during planning periods, before school and/or after school as appropriate.
STUDENT WEEK OF WELCOMEAUGUST 31ST – SEPTEMBER 4TH
During the first week of school, students will take an introductorycourse to learn about the K12 platform and will meet their teachers and peers through ClassConnect (live) sessions via the Newrow tool.
The goals for the week are twofold:
1. Teachers and students will get to know each other and start to develop a sense of an online community.
2. Students will complete the IOL course to ensure that they can navigate the new platform.

RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
Have a GROWTH MINDSET.
Set high expectations, don’t give up, and do
your best.
Create a “Check Off List” of things to do by prioritizing them by due
dates.
Projects should be planned out by dividing
it into mini tasks to meet deadlines.
Reading daily increases comprehension,
knowledge, and speed. The More Your Read, The More You Know.
Finish your assignments daily. Don’t leave for
tomorrow what can be done today.
