What We Are…
• Private, not-for-profit organization with Methodist origins, but we are not currently faith-based
• Meals on Wheels regional chapters are independent, registered 501(c)(3)
• Not reliant on federal or state funds
• More than 56 years of service in SD!

Home Delivered Meals!
• Volunteers deliver six days a week
• Fresh lunch & cold or hot dinner
• Includes beverage, dessert & snack
• All meals low/no added salt, fat, sugar
• Free monthly extras from Food Banks
• Also includes free wet & dry pet food!
What We Do…

Health and wellness checks!
• Daily contact allows our volunteer to ask…
Is the client doing well? How are the pets?
Is the client behaving/responding normally?
What is the temperature in the house?
Are there uneaten meals in the refrigerator?
Is the client enjoying our meals?
• However, if the client doesn’t answer the door…
What We Do…

• For Short-term Assistance (< 60 days)
Recovering from injury or hospitalization
Caregiver/family member is not available
• For Long-term Enrollment (> 60 days)
Chronic illness or disability (homebound)
Inability/lack of desire to cook or shop
Dietary needs are costly or unavailable

At least sixty years old*
No income or medical requirements!
*In-home caregiver under 60 is also eligible
Qualifications:

• Initial interview + 2 days for processing
• Meals arrive between 10:45 & 1:30
• Deliveries made Monday thru Saturday & ALL Holidays, unless falls on Sunday
• 48-hour notice is required for changes, including days you expect not to be home to receive your meals. Why 48 hours?

• Is in the early 80s
• Is living alone
• Receives 4 meals each week
• Has $1,500 monthly income
• Or has less than $25,000 annual household income
