2. Introduction
Student Božo is standing on the crossroads of his life. He is preparing to finish
Faculty of applied engineering sciences (FAES). The only thing he was focused on
during his student life was getting excellent grades on exams. Full of self-
confidence he went on a job interview but employer rejected him and he didn't get
the job. He was confused and disappointed. He went to the Faculty library to find
the answer why this happened.
He realised that he's missing skills that employers value the most: team work,
communication organizational skills, time management, creativity, initiative etc. But
there was a problem – some skills you just can't get out of books. Luckily he saw an
add form a student association “Potentials” about a training day – event devoted to
training students for their future jobs and connecting students with companies.
When he came to the workshop he noticed that there was only two people
participating in this event besides him. He was skeptical but he stayed.
At the end of the workshop Božo was thrilled with new knowledge he acquired.
The main organizer announced to his small audience that this was the last
workshop because of low attendance and a lack of money. Driven by this positive
experience he decided to do whatever is in his power to help the mission of the
student association – teach students, train their soft skills - live. Other two
participants of the workshop weren't satisfied with workshop because it reminded
them too much of the boring lectures at their faculty. He realised that if he wanted
the idea to live, he must come up with new ways of transferring these skills to
students using the latest technology to achieve that goal.
HERE IS WHERE YOU COME UP – BOŽO NEEDS YOUR HELP
Help him design a good promotion campaign and workshop content using modern
technology so nobody would ever find himself in situation as Božo before workshop.
3. The Task
The task is to devise an event (workshop, course, competition, different activities and
so on) that would help students in their further development and acquiring the skills
and knowledge needed to find a dream job. It is necessary to devise the organization
of the event and its promotion in order to make the response as big as possible,
bearing in mind market and student requirements and the feasibility of this event in
Zagreb or online. For the whole project it is possible to use limited funds, 10 000 kn.
To present the solution, it is needed:
- run the analysis of student population (define their interests, needs, strengths,
advantages and disadvantages). Think from your point of view, about your
needs as a student and knowledge you haven’t acquired, but are needed for
development of your career
- run the analysis of the current market. Adjust the workshops to engineering
field, especially to deficit professions
- devise an event where students will master the skills needed for development
of their career. Think of the workshops as interactive, without using traditional
tools used in faculty (Powerpoint and written exams). Be creative and think
outside of the box
- estimate how will the event effect the student population and positive changes
that it might bring
- define channels and ways of promotion in order to get through to student
population. Answer why is that kind of promotion better than the ones already
known and how would you make yourself interested in certain event.
For additional help in presenting the solution pay attention to the next section - points
