Your World &Your task: Everyday Beauty- Up Close
• 1. Using the images you saw in the movie "Born into Brothels" as inspiration, take SIX photos that represent your world.
• What do you find beautiful? What surrounds you that makes you complete? Is it nature, inanimate objects, people, tools, food, soft clothes, etc.
![Page 3: Macro slideshow](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062405/555837b6d8b42ac6078b4973/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Macro Photography
Macro photography is the art of taking close-up pictures that reveal details which can’t be seen with the naked eye.
![Page 4: Macro slideshow](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062405/555837b6d8b42ac6078b4973/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Macro Photography
• 2. The SIX photos must be CLOSE UP (MACRO) photos that focus on textures, pattern or color and combine them into one composition.
![Page 5: Macro slideshow](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062405/555837b6d8b42ac6078b4973/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
3. Focus on ABSTRACTION!
This means not making the object/thing recognizable. Making it LESS identifiable.
Recognizable Abstract

Depth of Field
• Depth of Field is the area of an image that is in focus and extends in front of and behind the object
• Macro photography has limited Depth of Field
• The greater the magnification (how big the subject appears) the smaller the Depth of Field
![Page 7: Macro slideshow](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062405/555837b6d8b42ac6078b4973/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Depth of Field
• The Depth of Field covers a zone 1/3 in front of the focus point and 2/3 behind the focus point
• In this eg. figures 1 and 5 will be out of focus
• This ratio remains constant no matter how large the DOF is
![Page 8: Macro slideshow](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062405/555837b6d8b42ac6078b4973/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Depth of Field
• DOF influenced by;• Aperture size (opening in lens)• Focal Length of the lens• Distance between the lens and the focus pointPortrait Mode Landscape

Depth of Field
• Small or Shallow Depth of Field
• Large or Deep Depth of Field
![Page 10: Macro slideshow](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062405/555837b6d8b42ac6078b4973/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
4. Use a SHALLOW DEPTH OF FIELD, so more of the image is in focus allowing the textures and lines to create patterns.
![Page 11: Macro slideshow](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062405/555837b6d8b42ac6078b4973/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Lighting- Flash? Use daylight? Use home lamps?
• Challenging to have sufficient lighting
• Due to;• Macro photography requiring small apertures to achieve necessary
Depth of Field• Macro photography requiring longer exposures to compensate for
the small apertures
