Dear Lynnwood Families, The Edmonds School District and our school believes that parent feedback and reflection is critical to the improvement of our system. Last year, Lynnwood began a two year cycle of collecting parent feedback through a parent survey in the Spring. Below are the results. This Spring, we will be reaching out to families from select focus groups to ask more questions regarding our communication practices, as this is the area identified as least favorable based on the survey results. Our goal is to examine barriers in our communication with families and hear from families what actionable steps we can take as a school to improve. If you are interested in providing communication feedback as part of a family focus group or just have any information you would like to share, please get in touch with either Mrs. Henly or Mrs. Samie.

Active & Accessible Transportation Plan Community Survey Lynnwood is a family-friendly community full of schools, parks, shopping, and other destinations. The ongoing Active & Accessible Transportation Plan will prioritize opportunities to improve walking and bicycling conditions, create safe access to schools, parks, and transit, and develop a safe, efficient transportation system. This survey includes specific questions for families covering how students get to school and barriers they may experience. We want to hear from you! Share your thoughts about walking, bicycling, and rolling on our Community Survey using the link below by March 27th. The survey will ask you about:
Your transportation preferences
Your ideas for improving walking and bicycling
Your students’ travel to school Take the survey at bit.ly/LynnwoodAATP (be sure to enter the capital letters as shown)
Your participation is important, and thank you in advance!
Please take this survey before March 27th when you have 15 minutes available.
Thank you to all that contributed to our
school food drive! We reached our
goal of 2,000 items with a final count of
2,258. Special thanks to Mrs.
Williams’ class for running the drive!

This month, our school wide theme is friendship skills. In our morning announcements and class meetings, we’ll be reminding students to invite others to play, play in fair ways, take responsibility for mistakes by making amends, and how to handle name-calling assertively. These skills help students make and keep friends. Second Step lessons specifically teach these friendship skills. You can help reinforce why friendship skills are important at home! Reach out to your child’s teacher for resources and fun activities to do with your child to help him or her learn and practice the skills.

Some simple steps to insure
the safety of our children:
If you are on campus visiting or volunteering, you
must sign in at the office and wear a
visitor/volunteer badge.
When you are walking on campus to pick your child
up at the end of the day, please remember to meet
them outside by the covered bench area.
Parents,
Please let the office know early in the
day if you absolutely need to take your
student out for an appointment or early
release. This allows us to have them
ready for you if that release time is
during lunch, recess, or their specialist
times.
If your child will be out for two days
or more remember to fill out a pre-
approval form (picked up from the
office or found on line). This should be
done two weeks in advance.
To the Families of LWE Fifth Graders!
Camp Killoqua is in your child’s future! Please join Ms. Davis, Mr. VandeGriend, and Ms. Kim on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 6:30 pm at
Lynnwood Elementary in the Commons for a special meeting for parents of fifth graders who will be
attending Camp Killoqua. You will receive a packet of paperwork, details about camp and a brief presentation by one of Camp Killoqua’s most experienced leaders. Ask questions and be
informed! See you soon!
The Edmonds School District is holding an election Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, with two important measures on the ballot:
* Capital Construction Bond * Replacement Technology/Capital Levy.
The district’s ask for a $600 million Capital Construction Bond and a $96 million Replacement Technology/Capital Levy focuses on three key areas: Design spaces for today’s standard for learning. Our elementary schools are over capacity. The 2020 Bond will help make space for current and future students. Our older schools do not support current educational programs and are reaching the end of their useful service life. The new buildings will be designed to improve student learning. The district has identified $1.7 billion in facility and capacity needs. The $600 million 2020 bond is part of a long-term capital facilities plan that spans over three bond cycles in an effort to maintain the current tax rate for our community.
Maintain advanced technology program for our students. The 2020 Replacement Technology/Capital Levy provides funding for technology for student learning and capital facilities improvements. This means one-to-one computers in grades 2-12 and two students to one computer in grades K-1. The levy will also support classroom technology, teacher training and support, as well as provide internet access for students at home who can’t afford this educational tool.
Take student safety to a new level. Student safety is our top priority. The 2020 Bond and Levy will provide funding for the district to continue to not only keep up with the latest safety, security and emergency preparedness improvements, but take our safety commitment to a new level with technology improvements, physical building/site improvements and training and support.
You can find more information on our district’s website: http://bit.ly/ESD2020Election
Lynnwood Leopard's Little Give and Take
Library is live!
Similar to last year, this is a spot where kids
can grab a book if they would like one, or
leave a book if they're done with it! We ask
that students take no more than one book
a day. If you have books you want to give
away, please drop them off!
The Give and Take library is located at the
base of the foyer area stairs. Check it out!
