Look the world through virtual space

We are developing methods of geometric and photometricmodeling of the real world, Robotics, Intelligent Transport System(ITS), Augmented/Mixed Reality (AR/MR) based on the ComputerVision. It is important to develop basic technologies andapplication systems in each research field.

3D Modeling and AnalysisTo digitize large cultural heritage assets and urbancities, we have been developing laser rangesystems, methods of processing partial range dataand estimating colors of the objects. 3D shapeanalysis gives new findings with the collaborationwith the researchers of architecture, archaeologyand art history.

Spatiotemporal VisualizationWe have been developing augmented/mixedreality (AR/MR) methods for superimposingvirtual objects into the real world. In addition tothe basic technologies such as tracking andocclusion handling, we are developing an MRsystem mounted on a vehicle that enables us toexperience MR in wide fields.

Teleoperation of Humanoid RobotWe are developing a teleoperation system of thehumanoid robot based on the "Learning fromObservation" paradigm in which the robot learnstheir behavior by observing the human beings. The VR space is utilized for supporting theintuitive operation of the humanoid robot by theoperator.
