INFORMATION EVENING
Thanks to those parents who attended our
Information Evening on Wednesday night. It was terrific for us to be able to speak with parents about our plans and to answer questions. We are looking forward to an exciting and productive year.
We outlined some of the key focus areas for this
year.
These include:
Continued development in implementing
best practice teaching and learning in Litera-
cy, Numeracy and Inquiry based learning.
Differentiated programs that maximize
learning growth and emphasise high
academic performance.
Maintaining high level student support
through the areas of Special Needs and
Intervention.
Putting strategies in place so our school
continues to be a caring, friendly and
respectful environment.
Continued development of high quality
relationships between students, parents and
staff.
Highly effective communication.
This year so far we have:
Introduced Years 5 and 6 School Leaders.
Students will be supported to take on
responsibilities and develop a variety of
skills.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
A big thank you to the School Council members
who have just completed their time on School
Council. Thanks for what you have put into the
School, your efforts are greatly appreciated.
There were four vacancies for the new School
Council and four nominations were received.
The new members of the School Council are:
Sarah Heywood (returning) Stephanie Smith (returning) Leanne Hansford Emily Sullivan
The next School Council Meeting will be held on
Monday 2nd March at 7.30 p.m. in the Staff Room.
What’s happening in the Middle Room?
Students in Years 2 and 3 have made a very productive start to the year. A part of their classroom program involves inquiry based learning where students are involved in a range of learning
experiences to help them develop big understandings about their world.
During this term students are inquiring into ‘Children around the World—How are we the same, how are we different?’ Students are exploring the lives of other children around the world and are
discovering the similarities and differences between themselves and others. They will explore factors that influence the way other chil-dren live but realise despite these influences, all children are the same in many ways and have the same basic
needs.
READING TIP
When reading together at home try to make the
time relaxed, enjoyable and positive. Vary it.
Read together, read to your child and take turns
or have them read to you.

FARM WORLD RUBBISH COLLECTION
March 26 – 30 2015
The time has come again for our major fundraiser for the year – rubbish collection at Lardner Park for the Field Days.
We would love it if we were able to fill the whole roster ourselves so that we get to keep all of the money. It would also be great to see some new people volunteering.
For new families and those that are yet to volunteer, the job entails driving around on a 'mule' (we use 2), towing a trailer and emptying rubbish bins (taking out and replacing the bags) and picking up any other rubbish/cardboard that is left for us. The job might sound like it isn't much fun, but it isn't that bad and is able to be done by men and women of any fitness levels.
Please remember that for every hour that you volunteer, $20 is raised for your school.
Times needing to be filled are:
