MAJOR PROJECTS / NEEDS Monolith Scour Repair – COMPLETE
Spillway Radial Gate Replacement – COMPLETE
Pumping Plant Replacement – COMPLERE
1. Large Lock Emergency Closure System Rehabilitation (Crane Replacement) - ~$4M. Awarded in FY17, contract ongoing
2. Filling Culvert Valve and Machinery Replacement (Stoney Gate valves) – Construction funding needed - ~$10.5M. Awarded in FY 18, contract starting FY18/FY19
3. Large Lock Gate Rehabilitation – currently condition unknown. Estimate ~$6M - $12M. BDI inspection was completed and indicated that the center gate on the large lock is in need of repair or replacement. - Requesting design funds for FY 19
4. Emergency Closure for Small Lock. Unknown – design needed. Estimate $1M - $5M. Requesting design funds FY 19
5. Small Lock Machinery Replacement. Unknown – design needed. Estimate $3M to $5M. Requesting design funds FY 19
6. Saltwater Barrier Replacement. Unknown – design needed. Estimate $1M - $2M Requesting design funds FY 19
7. Saltwater Drain Intake System and Permanent Solution to Diffuser Well. Large unknowns – plan and design needed. Likely a new temporary screen installed in 5 years for about $900k. Complete drain intake replacement could be $5M to $10M. Requesting design funds FY 19
8. Emergency Generator Connections. (Seismic retrofit of transformer house is cost prohibitive) Less than $1M
9. Electrical System Rehabilitation. Estimate $5M based on previous costs.
10. Maintenance Building Rehabilitation. Unknown – inspection and design needed.

1. LARGE LOCK EMERGENCY CLOSURE SYSTEM (ECS – CRANE REPLACEMENT)
PURPOSE: 1. Stop Uncontrolled Release of Water, 2. Auxiliary SpillwayCONDITION: Derrick crane and electrical controls are original (~1920);
currently working (restricted conditions), but in poor, un-repairable condition.
STATUS: * Received Funding * Contract awarded

Crane
• * Anticipate 2018 construction start
2. FILLING CULVERT VALVE REPLACEMENTPURPOSE: Used to control water flow into and out of the lock chamber CONDITION: Stoney Gate Valves” are original (1916) Total of six valves (two at each miter gate) Valves raise or lower lock chamber water elevation Machinery to raise and lower the valves are obsolete and unreliable. Valve speed cannot be adjusted.
IMPACTS: Unexpected failure may result in extended lock closureSTATUS: Received Funding Contract has been awarded Construction anticipated to start in 2019 FUTURE BENEFITS: New valves w/ hydraulic controls will reduce water velocity entraining less
juvenile salmon New valves will drastically reduce maintenance and failures

PURPOSE: The PLC system controls attraction water, the mix of fresh and saltwater, flowing through the fish ladder
CONDITION:• Current systems is obsolete, parts unavailable • Computer hardware and software obsolete, not supported • Only general indicators and alarms in tower
IMPACTS:Unexpected failure could result in reduced or lost attraction water flow
STATUS:• Received funding late FY 18• Contract award this FY• Anticipate 2019 start
FUTURE BENEFITS: Up-to-date PLC system Improved alarms in tower Better saltwater drain valve
indicators in tower

7. SALTWATER DRAIN INTAKE SYSTEMPURPOSE:• Brackish water passes during each upstream lockage and is then
drained via gravity• In 1976, the brackish water was channeled to the fish ladder providing
more attraction flow for adult salmon• Prevent adult salmon from entering the saltwater drain

7. SALTWATER DRAIN INTAKE SYSTEM, DIFFUSER WELL SCREEN
Condition• The screen is a temporary structure and has
degraded over time • Still functional and routinely inspected• The piping and systems have been in-service
since 1976 and is degraded IMPACTS:• Failure of this structure would allow fish in the
diffuser well and endangered species mortalitySTATUS:• Requested Funding for FY 19FUTURE BENEFITS:
• Improve the systems function to keeps the Brackish water from migrating into the lake and supplies saltwater attraction flow to the fish ladder
• Prevent adult salmon from entering the saltwater drain system
