Greetings Fellow Knights,
I had the good fortune to speak in our Character and Leader-
ship class on Thursday. Mr. Olds does an excellent job providing a
forum for depth of discussion and reflection. My message revolved
around my personal story and the importance of daily reflection
and self improvement. I relayed a story about my wife, a former
ICU nurse, who saw many people who knew they were nearing the
end of life. In 100% of those cases the discussions and insights
she gained from her patients were telling. The true importance of
what life is truly about is reflected in those moments of clarity.
In a period of my life that was driven by professional growth
and egocentric goals I started becoming very aware of the im-
portance of personal relationships and family. We talked about the
human condition and how we all face similar emotions and strug-
gles. The true measure of a person may come down to how we
choose to take on those challenges. I was so impressed with our
students’ insights and understanding of our complex philosophical
discussion. I can honestly say that the forty minutes I spent in
this class was among the most enjoyable of my entire school
year. I am more encouraged than ever that we have a bright
future ahead and that KJH students rock!
Sincerely,
Brent Allen
Assistant Principal

Abby Smith, from Kings Junior High School has qualified to compete in the state level competition of the National Geographic Bee! The Ohio State Bee will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018. Eligi-ble state Bee competitors must be in grades four through eight, and must have participated in and won the competition at the school lev-el. Abby won our building level competition in mid December. One champion from each state and territory will advance to the National Geographic Bee Championship, which will be held May 20-23 at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. Many thanks to our School Bee Coordinator Mrs. Bigelow for organizing the school Bee. We wish success and fun while partici-pating in the Ohio State Bee. Good Luck!
Abby is an awesome student to represent KJH.
GREAT JOB!

Looking out for peers
Some deem it a social responsibility to look out for
others. We certainly feel it is important at KJH that all
students who are with us daily feel comfortable and
happy to be here. The following is a suggested dia-
logue to see how attentive your sons and daughters
are to those who may be struggling.
Are there students in your class that you worry are sad and
need someone to talk to?
What can you do to help that student get to a better place?
Do you ever feel unhappy or misunderstood at school?
What can you do to get to a better place?
What would you like to see your school do about making sure all
students are happy to be there?

PACT Staff Member of the Week
Mr. Nocton
Mr. Nocton has one more week to fill in for Mrs. Huelsman.
He has done a fantastic job handling the responsibilities he
has been given. Being new to the building and taking on the
role of administrator is a difficult task. Mr. Nocton has made
this look easy as he is always calm and collected and handles
situations with insight and reason. We want to send out a
huge THANK YOU for all you have contributed to KJH!
