Located about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of the central business district, Osu is known for its busy
commercial, restaurant and nightlife activity

su’s constant bustle and trendy shops makes it an essential part of any visit. As you enter Cantonments Road, known
to virtually everyone as Oxford Street, you are immediately struck
by how busy it is, with vehicles, people, large commercial buildings, and huge billboards. This is a 24 hour the hub of activity. This is where you will find many of Accra’s best bars and restaurants and boutiques. Discover a contemporary twist on Ghanaian food and music at the The Republic Bar & Grill, choose from an extensive drink selection at Fire Fly or just chill at Shisha Lounge. Find Traditional
Ghanaian food at Bukas or be more adventurous and try a local chop bar like Asanka Local or Paradise Palace. Restaurant Clarisse, is Ivory Coast’s version of a chop bar, don’t be deceived by its size, the food is world class. Osu has no shortage of Chinese, Italian, Indian and French restau-rants, some of the best in Accra. Splurge at Bread and Wine for some high quality French food. Shopping ranges from stalls which line the street, to the eco-friendly Trashy Bags where you can buy beautiful bags made from plastic waste, to high end boutiques like Christie Brown. If you are look-ing for a budget hotel, we were impressed with the iconic Frankie Hotel’s renovated rooms on the top floor. Otherwise, if you want to splurge for a room or a cocktail La Villa Boutique hotel, originally the Russian Embassy, whose lush garden and style make it a quiet and stylish escape. Delicious Italian-themed ice cream parlors like Pinocchio and Arlecchino make this commercial stretch a visitor’s dream.
Left: Pinocchio, the latest gelataria in Accra offers over 40 different flavors of Gelato
and has a beautiful restaurant attached called La Piazza.
Clockwise from top right: Street vendors on Oxford Street, La Villa Boutique Hotel, Republic Bar & Grill, Trashy Bags, delicious Ivorian style grilled Tilapia at Clarisse Restaurant

7 La 33
With more than a decade, 60 thousand albums sold and nearly 2,000 different
presentations in five conti-nents, La-33 has become one of the most influential Colombian salsa orches-tras on the international scene. La-33 began in 2001 when the brothers Sergio and Santiago Mejia assembled a group of musicians to form a salsa band. They found their in-spiration in urban rhythms like rock, jazz and reggae. The band is also inspired by the New York 70’s music scene, where the rough and dirty sounds of the city are mixed with Caribbean rhythms. Spon-sored by the Colombian Embassy in Ghana. Be ready to dance! Cocktails and other drinks will be served by the The Re-public Bar & Grill. Trade Fair – Round Pavilion, 8 pm, 10GHC, 5GHC for AF students and members,
