Journal #5 The store I picked to browse was Anthropologie. I shop there frequently and I know that they usually have a wide selection of clothes, bags, shoes and things for your home. The five trends that I noticed were: bright colors, patterns, leather, gold and lace. Bright colors are trend that is being shown all through out women’s clothing this year. But, I noticed the trend has followed through on shoes as well home accessories. Bright colored jeans have been shown a lot this season as well as in dresses, tops and jackets. Bright colored shoes are something else that I have noticed as well, from navy blue loafers with a yellow tassel or yellow lace up heels with a wooden heel. In the home department I noticed bright colored bowls that range from every color of the rainbow as well as “farmer market” baskets to hold all your produce. Bright colors are clearly a trend not only in clothes but in shoes and in the home as well. The second trend I noticed was patterns. I really have never noticed a pattern on shoes before besides maybe more in summer heels or polka dots. But, this winter I noticed patterns on shoes as well. One shoe in particular really caught my eye with this trend. The shoe is a loafer heel with a pattern fabric in the middle for a pop. Another shoe had a plaid pattern heel, another with a floral pattern and another with a paisley pattern. Scarfs are also a perfect example of the pattern trend. Clutches and wallets have also shown a pattern trend this season as well from stripes as well as different cut out patterns. There were also several patterns from robes and pajamas in the store as well. While pajamas seem to always have a pattern the robes are very bold patterns and bright as well. Leather is another trend that I have noticed in Anthropologie as well. Leather was shown in shoes as it usually is but as well in purses and clutches. I also noticed that leather was a huge trend in home accessories like sofas and even in pillows. Jackets and vests are also being made with leather. While leather is a consistent trend that will never really go away, but every year it is evolving into something even better. Gold is also another staple trend that will never go away. I have noticed this trend heavily in jewelry. But also in clothing from gold colored corduroy pants, gold colored blouses as well as jackets. I feel like a gold trend is not only the metal but as well as the color of items. There was also gold sequins jacket as well as gold beading on shawls in the store. There were also gold hair accessories that were in the store as well, from metal headbands to gold sparkle headpieces. Lace is another trend that I noticed in the store. Several tops and dresses all had lace, weather it was a dominant part of the outfit or a trim to give it a little something extra. Lace was also shown in different colored tights. This is a trend that is usually paired with a simple dress and lace tights. Lace patterns were also shown
throughout the home accessories like coffee cups and plates, as well as napkins and curtains and bed spreads as well.
