Vaccine Schedule Gets a “Shot in the Arm”Kentucky immunization requirements revised
On the Move! The Providence School and Jessamine County Adult Education have new locations for the 2011-12 school year
Beginning July 1, 2011, changes to regulations governing
Kentucky’s immunization schedule will add or alter the
types of vaccines required for school-age children as well as
for infants and toddlers. Immunization requirements were updated
to better align Kentucky’s schedule with recommendations from
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The new
version of the administrative regulation adopts changes that put the
Commonwealth in line with national pediatric standards. Because
some of these requirements have been CDC recommendations for
some time, many children are expected to already be in compliance
with the amended regulation. All
immunization certificates submitted
on or after July 1, 2011 should reflect
the new requirements. If you have
any questions regarding your child’s
immunizations, please contact your
family physician. For more information
regarding the changes, visit http://
www.chfs.ky.gov/dph/epi/Immunization+Program.htm. v
The Providence School will start off the 2011-12 school year
in a new location at the former Jessamine Early Learning
Village building in Wilmore. TPS staff and students
are excited about the move and look forward to the opportunities
that will be afforded by their “new” school, including library and
gymnasium spaces. TPS would like to thank everyone who has made
this move possible, especially the volunteers who have helped with
everything from cleaning and painting to heavy lifting. If you would
still like to help out, donations of books to stock the school’s first-ever
library would be appreciated!
The Jessamine County Adult Education program has moved from
their facility on Maple Street, relocating to the former Providence
School location at 200 Computrex Drive. The Adult Ed Center
will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00
p.m. from July 12th through July 27th. Regular hours will resume
on August 8th. v
Mark Your Calendars!Jessamine Schools, in partnership with the Nicholasville Tourism Commission, invite you to attend the first annual VisitNich.com Bowl at East Jessamine High School on Friday, August 19th, 2011.
