IASP has dedicated the 2017 to the awareness on Acute Pain around the world. The final results have been very negative, if not dramatic. Over 30 years after the establishment of the first Special Interest Group on Acute Pain of IASP, patients suffering from postoperative or other acute pain syndromes are still poorly treated. Despite IASP dedication in the year 2017 to increase the awareness on Acute Pain around the world the final results are still negative, if not dramatic and there are few improvements on the organization of acute pain management both in emergency or in other clinical settings. This is imposing a different approach to the topic and to improve the knowledges on chronic pain. The Fondazione Internazionale Menarini, with the scientific support of the Paolo Procacci Foundation, has decided to dedicate a special Symposium to this topic in the area of Latino-America. Together, they have been able to put together an outstanding Faculty, with highly recognized specialists in the area. We welcome all the Colleagues of this area of the planet who have decided to benefit of this special event.About Fondazione Internazionale Menarini (http://www.fondazione-menarini.it/). Fondazione Internazionale Menarini was established in 1976 to promote the knowledge on biology, pharmacology and medicine, focusing on the practical aspects deriving from a translational process from basic science. It represents a meeting point for all health care professionals and friends with common ideals towards the progress of sciences for the benefit of mankind.About Paolo Procacci Foundation (FPP - https://www.fondazioneprocacci.org/). It contributes to the education on pain management of the health care professionals. It is sustaining the necessity of a medical specialty in Pain Medicine. It is diffusing scientific knowledges to the public at large. It represents an authoritative scientific entity, as advisor for the political authorities in charge to manage the problems connected to pain and pain patients.
