random match—pattern matches no matter how adjoining strips are positioned; produces much less waste; example—grasscloth

straight-across match—design elements match on adjoining strips; every strip same at ceiling line; example—stripes

vinyl—variety of price points; most durable; 3 types: paper-backed, fabric-backed, vinyl-impregnated cloth

paper—more delicate; do not scrub; best used in low-maintenance rooms

embossed—have texture rolled into them; hide imperfections of wall

flocked—rayon & nylon fibers-washable; brushing against them flattens flock

foil—aluminum laminated to paper & simulated metallic; wash & dry carefully; show any wall imperfections

grasscloth—oriental import; variation of color throughout; vacuum gently to clean

hemp, hulu, burlap—also oriental, loom woven, delicate and unwashable

•scrim/Osnaburg—loosely woven fabric backing material•drill—dense woven fabric; better dimensional stability•string—fairly new, strings in various colors, sizes, textures; seams don’t show•murals—photo, scenic, antique/ documentaries•blank paper stock—wall lining, used to smooth out damaged walls, protects expensive/antique papers
