INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK ‐ IMF
Purposes
Support a participatory approach to ecosystem based planning and management in coastal zones. p g g
Assist the development of solution‐oriented plans for coastal zones with special attention to the integration of the surfacezones, with special attention to the integration of the surface waters, groundwater and aquifers, and biodiversity management.
Integrate climate change as a cross‐cutting issue throughout the planning and implementation process.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK ‐ IMF
Objectives
Pursue coherent multiple policy goals in the same or overlapping space in the coastal
zone
Ensure that policy instrument mixes mutually supportive in the pursuit of policy goals
Produce policy outcomes appropriate to specific coastal zone problem context
Add l t i di id l h h th t ‘th h l i t th th f thAdd value to individual approaches such that ‘the whole is greater than the sum of the
parts’ – synergy
Achieve a shared, efficient and effective use of limited human and logistical resources
Respond effectively to the more dynamic environment resulting from climate change
and development
T hi h d hi b th t th h b tt di ti dTo achieve shared ownership by the sectors through better coordination and
integration of the planning process.
