Decio Commons
Very overcrowded in-between classes and especially between 11-2 when the sandwich bar is open
Line for sandwich bar gets in the way of cash register and other areas of the café
Not much seating Good set-up for group collaboration with round
tables and for doing individual work on the side tables and bar stools
Initial Research Overview
Very popular Much more spacious Lots of seating - tables, couches, chairs Study space/eatery - about half and half Most crowded on Thursdays between 9 &
10:30 and everyday between 11:45 & 1 –employee observation
2 big tv's - eating side it's on and study side it's off
Not much seating Not enough space for thru-traffic More traffic during breakfast time
Geared more towards eating than just studying – all tables
2 checkouts – one for sandwiches, one for other items
Outside seating A lot of space Sandwich bar open until 2:30 Salad bar Seemingly more faculty than students
The law school does seem to have better specials as well. To be fair, the law school café has a much better facility and more room to work with. This is why they can make a Panini and special everyday. Other than that, they are pretty much the same.”
“Well the Law School cafe doesn't get as busy as Café Commons. But I find the food is much better. The sandwich stuff is the same but the law school always has a Panini of the day in addition to another special. The Paninis are always a big seller and are delicious. Café Commons tends to do the Paninis once a week, as the special, on Friday.

Initial Research Insights and Conclusions
• Primary issue with Café Commons is overcrowding
• Sandwich bar line and payment line block traffic and run into each other
• Correlation between space (for both seating and purchasing) and popularity
