OVERVIEW
This session provides an understanding of the
inner workings of the IMU application and theissues related to successful startup of theapplication on a client computer workstation. Wewill also cover the basic personnel check-in
process. An assumption will be made that the class
participants have basic computer usage skills andare familiar with Windows files/folders and withthe basic requirements of conduction a CAPmission.

out of the training, please attempt to limit thebackground noise in your area by muting yourmicrophone or telephone, especially if you are

Before the call
Decide which phone you will use
If possible, avoid the use of portable or cellphones.
If you use a portable or cell phone, test it ifpossible for voice and audio quality from thelocation where you will be using it to makesure works OK.
If you use a speakerphone or a headset test itto make sure it works OK for voice and audioquality
Familiarize yourself with the mute/un-mutefacility on your phone
Reduce any background noise to a minimum,especially from: TVs and radios
Music on Hold (disable)
Children (and adults) Dogs
Turn off (or to vibrate) any alerts such as cellphone, call/message waiting etc
During the call
If you get a bad line tell the moderator, hang upand try again
Place your phone on mute whenever you are nottalking
When you phone is not muted, refrain fromtaking part in secondaryconversations, rustling papers near the phoneetc.
Whenever you want to speak Wait for a natural pause in the conversation
Announce your name before contributing to thediscussion
If you need to leave the call let the moderatorknow before you hang up

VISTA/WINDOWS 7 INSTALLATION ISSUES
In some cases, the application executable
(IMUserver.exe) will be placed into a folder inthe user hierarchy.
Search for IMUserver.exe
If found anywhere other than the Program
Files/PANDER/IMU folder
Copy all file contents to the Program Files folder
Make certain that all shortcuts point to the IMU
folder in the Program Files hierarchy

UPDATES
When a new build is generated, users
will see a message announcing the
new build when starting the IMU
Get the new build by clicking on the
OK button
The update will download onto your
computer desktop
You may see an informational
message
When the download is complete, click
on the OK message and follow
installation instructions.
You may also see a message box
indicating that a new WMIRS
browser is available Click on OK

SETUP DATABASE
Each wing must decide how users will obtain a
current wing database for the IMU.Download from the WMU
requires IC, Wing DO/DOS
Download from the Internet ServerRequires knowledge of user name and password

IMU DATABASE FROM IMU SERVER
Enter the IP address or URL into the URL or IP Address
box
If the wing is using a special sub-folder on the host to
point to the database folder from the default loginlocation, this should be entered into the Folder or Path
box (normally this is left blank).
Enter the FTP user name provided by the wing into the
FTP User Name box.
Enter the FTP user password associated with the user
name into the Password box. Click on the Save button
to save this information. Saving the information willsimplify the keystrokes to download the database
again in the future.
Click on the Get Database From Host Site to cause the
application to download your database from the host
and install it into the correct IMUdb folder on your
workstation.
During the download process, you will see a FileTransfer Progress box showing you the status of the
download.
When the download has completed, the progress box will
disappear and a message will be displayed on the bottom
of the IMU Setup box indicating that the operation has
been completed. Click on the Cancel button to return to
the main setup screen.

OPENING THE MISSION
Select Open Incident from File menu
If you have previously opened a mission,
the last mission will default. The mission will generally have been
opened by the Senior Staff
Select the mission number from the
incident pull-down
Make sure that the Incident Date selector
shows the correct date
The ICP should be the FAA airport
identifier nearest to the ICP.
The Local Base Name is theidentifier for your staging base.
Note the incident type and
operational period
Click on OK
