Assisted Living Communities Tower One/Tower East
Rebecca Goodman Olshansky Occupancy/Marketing Director 18 Tower Lane New Haven, CT 06519 (203) 772-1816, ext. 250 [email protected] www.towerone.org
Tower One/Tower East is an affordable active senior living community,
offering both independent and affordable assisted living services in the heart of one of New
England’s most historic and vital cities. For over 40 years, the Towers have provided a safe and
vibrant environment for older persons of varying means from the greater New Haven area, around
the state, and beyond. We are proud of our ability to readily respond to the changing needs of Tower
One/Tower East residents and their families. Our dedication to providing high quality living
arrangements will never waiver.
Living well means different things to different people. Beyond pleasant and secure surroundings, we
believe that, to one degree or another, the support and companionship of friends, spirituality,
intellectual stimulation, and exercise are all key factors in the equation that leads to successful,
happy lives. While residents of Tower One/Tower East enjoy a comfortable and safe environment
with a full complement of conveniences, a truly higher standard is achieved by helping each
individual find precisely the right balance of social, physical, spiritual, and mental inspiration.
The Tower One/Tower East lifestyle is within the reach of a broad spectrum of older adults with
differing financial circumstances. In addition to monthly fees that compare very favorably with
communities of equally high quality, the Towers possess significant expertise in assisting both
existing and prospective residents with access to a variety of assistance programs.
Our ability to give residents access to multiple payer sources for rent and assisted-living services’
programs makes the Towers unique among older adult living communities in the region. We are the
only adult living community in greater New Haven, and one of only a handful in Connecticut-eligible
for inclusion in several state-administered programs that help residents and their families avoid
unnecessary concerns about long-term expenses for assisted-living services. That may be among the
most significant advantages of the Tower One/Tower East living experience.
Our director for Occupancy/ Marketing, Rebecca Goodman Olshansky, enjoys helping seniors and
their loved ones to decide on how the Towers can be an answer to living a fulfilling independent
lifestyle as they age in place. She knows first-hand, since several of her own
family members have resided and still do reside at the Towers. She holds the
Towers in high esteem.
Coming from a financial background of 15 years, then 7 years in home
healthcare, she feels she has truly found her niche in life at Tower One/Tower
East. She is a member of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce
Healthcare Council; the InterAgency Council for the Aging; New Haven Senior
Networking Group; Connecticut Assisted Living Association; and Leading Age
of Connecticut.
Rebecca looks forward to continue making a positive difference in the lives of both our seniors and
their families.

Since 1956, The Richard W. Squeri Agency has been offering its clients a wide range of insurance choices, from not just one, but several major insurance carriers. We are able to research, compare and assist you in selecting the best combination of coverages and cost for all your personal, family and business needs. The Squeri Agency philosophy is to provide the finest insurance services to our clients, offer a full choice of products from more than 40 different carriers, be professionally responsible to our clients by keeping abreast of new products, technology and opportunities that can affect our business and our clients. We strive to do what is right for the individuals, families and businesses that we represent.
In July, 2014, Steve Cudgma joined the agency as a Life and Healthcare Specialist. There he expanded his knowledge of insurance to include Pre-65 enrollees as well. But his passion has been in assisting seniors with navigating the ever changing and often confusing world of Medicare. Year round, Steve assists new enrollees with their initial enrollment and helping them to understand what Medicare covers and where the "gaps" are. Appointed with all the major carriers of Medicare products, Steve can offer plans to fit every person’s situation. He is also abreast of the LIS (Low Income Subsidies) that are available to qualifying beneficiaries and how to apply for them.
Steve is also a Certified Long Term Care Advisor and is appointed with the major companies that offer this often overlooked coverage, something that most people will need at some point, but do not have in place.
Steve is passionate about his clients and their financial well-being and how it can be effected by unforeseen healthcare costs as they age. That is why he makes it his priority to stay on top of the changes to Medicare each year, so that he can help his clients live a carefree retirement without the worry of hidden costs, should they need medical attention.

www.townepharmacyinc.com Towne Pharmacy has been an independent family owned business serving the shoreline
area for over 50 years. Towne Pharmacy strives to offer customer service not readily
available at most chain Pharmacy stores. The newly renovated store not only services new,
refill or transferred prescriptions but has also added a complete line of Durable Medical
Products and a line of unique gift items.
Karen Ragonese, Registered Pharmacist and owner of Towne Pharmacy graduated from the
University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 1983 and joined her father William Ward,
Registered Pharmacist during the same year. She accepted ownership of the business in
2003 and continued to expand the business and successfully compete with chain
pharmacies by offering services and products that chain stores cannot match. Her
expertise and experience concerning most insurance plans gives her patients a useful
resource for understanding their insurance options. Some services Karen had implemented
include free medication delivery to the elderly, the Parata Packaging system to help ensure
medication adherence at home or at facilities, personal consultation for customers
concerning their medication or insurance plans, custom compression stocking fittings and
fitting assistance for orthopedic body braces. Being Medicare/Medicaid accredited allows
Towne Pharmacy to help with customers' insurance billing needs in a way most chain
Pharmacies cannot. Karen is also a member of the Branford Rotary Club, the Chamber of
Commerce, the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association and the National Community of
Pharmacists Association.
Vincent is a graduate from the University of Connecticut and had worked in the aerospace
industry for over 29 years. He left his profession to join his wife Karen in an effort to

prepared him to concentrate on detail and safety. His assessment of the patient's
condition and needs will ensure the correct product choice for safety and comfort. Services
include equipment consultations to ensure proper product selection, explanation of
insurance benefits and coverage based on the patient's individual plan. Each product is
individually fitted and the customer is trained with its proper use. Towne Pharmacy offers

chairs, scooters, hospital beds, bath safety equipment, compression leg and arm wear,
body orthopedic braces and therapeutic/diabetic shoes with specially heat formed inserts.

Reverse Mortgage Guilford Savings Bank
Sylvia Patterson Reverse Mortgage Specialist
203-458-5414 (phone) 203-453-6637 (fax) [email protected] www.GSB-yourbank.com
Guilford Savings Bank (GSB) strives to be the primary relationship bank serving the
traditional and evolving financial needs of individuals, families and businesses in its
shoreline communities. Founded in 1875 by local business owners, GSB has proudly
stood as a trusted institution for over 135 years.
Sylvia Patterson has been in banking for more than 20 years and in
the past 5 years, she has found her passion in helping the elderly
community with reverse mortgages.
As the Reverse Mortgage Specialist at GSB, Sylvia welcomes the
opportunity to inform and educate homeowners who are age 62 and
over about the reverse mortgage product.
A reverse mortgage allows a homeowner to access some of the
equity in their home by either receiving monthly payments or
receiving a line of credit which can be used as needed. You can use
the cash for whatever you choose such as home improvements,
travel, medical expenses, automobiles and more. Unlike a forward mortgage, the
reverse mortgage proceeds need not be repaid for as long as the home is the
borrower's primary residence.
As we grow older our concerns about having sufficient funds during our lifetime grow
as well. We may worry about having enough money to pay for increasing taxes,
medical equipment and medical bills. We consider hiring help for tasks that become
too difficult to do ourselves and perhaps eventually we require additional help in the
form of in-home care. There may also still be the burden of a mortgage or loan to be
paid monthly. A reverse mortgage could be the answer to these concerns.
We so often hear from satisfied reverse mortgage customers how the product has
changed their life and finances for the better. Maybe it can make your life easier too.
Why not give Sylvia a call to schedule a meeting to see if a reverse mortgage is right
for you. Remember, educating yourself about your options gives you the power to
make wise decisions about your future.

Colorful Chronicles: Preserving the Memories
Christine Bailey, MA
Madison, CT 06443 203-278-0120 [email protected] www.christinebaileylife.com
Christine Bailey, M.A received her master’s degree in gerontology
and B.A. in studio art and textile design. Since 1992 she has been
helping seniors and their families enhance the quality of their lives in
various ways. Integrating her background as a gerontologist, artist,
Compassionate Touch® practitioner for the Elderly and Ill and
aromatherapist, she has developed wellness programs for hospice,
skilled nursing facilities, as well as life care communities.
Currently, she is a research assistant at UCONN HEALTH Center on
Aging. When designing and facilitating educational programs for
older adults at Yale University, as part of a large National Institute on
Aging study, she educated and challenged one hundred 70-90 year old people to
understand the impact of their choices on their health and well-being. She works with
seniors, their families and healthcare providers as a geriatric care manager and life
enrichment coach, providing ways to live life with more confidence and peace of mind!
Assessing the whole person in their environment, she reaffirms a positive sense of
identity, regaining a sense of balance and better adjustment to life’s changes.
Her experience as an Expressive Art Specialist in hospice taught her
the importance of the present moment and not waiting to share
family stories. She encourages everyone to capture the moment and
preserve their family traditions, whether that is a story, music,
recipes, old photos or letters. It will be a lasting legacy for
generations. Since 2008, Christine founded Colorful Chronicles:
Preserving the Memories recording oral histories and preserving not
only the verbal legacies, but capturing the visual memories through
photo collages, written stories, poems and even 3-Dimensionally
through plaster hand casts. This life review process can be fun, educational for
younger generations, and life affirming!
“I was very pleased with the CD made by Colorful Chronicles on the occasion of my
80th
birthday. I will cherish the memory of my family’s remembrances and good wishes.
Listening to their voices and comments brought back memories and made me feel good
about my life.” -Robert B.
