Red Rock Ranger District Heritage Sites
Palatki Red Cliffs Heritage Site Cliff Dwelling and Rock Art Reservations are recommended— Call (928)282-3854.
Access to the cliff dwelling is limited.
Hours: 9:30 am—3:00 pm daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Hiking Difficulty: Two moderate trails, with one portion that is difficult, and
one easy trail, approximately one mile total.
Directions: Travel five miles west of Sedona on Hwy. 89A, turn right on FR 525 (between
mileposts 365 A and 364). Go north on the gravel road for seven miles.
Call (928) 282-3854 or (928) 282-4119 for road conditions.
Fee: A Red Rock Pass or Federal Interagency Pass is required on all vehicles.
Passes are available at Palatki.
Pets are not permitted at the site.
Honanki Heritage Site Cliff Dwelling and Rock Art Site
Hiking Difficulty: Approximately one mile of moderate hiking on a mostly
level trail with gentle upgrades.
Directions: Travel five miles west of Sedona on Hwy. 89A, turn right on FR 525 (between
mileposts 365 and 364). Go north on the gravel road for seven miles. Continue on FR 525 at
the “Y” for another four miles. Call (928) 282-3854 or (928) 282-4119 for road conditions
if there has been rain or snow.
Fee: A Red Rock Pass or Federal Interagency Pass is required on all vehicles.
Passes are available at Honanki.
Pets are not permitted at the site.
V Bar V Heritage Site Rock Art Site
Hours: Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 9:30 am— 3:00 pm.
Hiking Difficulty: Approximately one mile of easy hiking over fairly level ground. ADA
accessible
Directions: From exit 298 on I-17, turn south and continue just over two miles.
Go past the Beaver Creek Campground, over the Beaver Creek Bridge, and turn right at
the V Bar V sign.
Fee: A Red Rock Pass or national park pass is required on all vehicles. Passes are available
at V Bar V.
Pets are not permitted at the site.

Montezuma Well Cliff Dwellings and Spring Fed Sinkhole
Hiking Difficulty: One third of a mile loop trail with several steps
Directions: Take exit 293 off I-17, drive through McGuireville, stay on the Beaver Creek Rd. for
approximately three miles. Turn right toward Montezuma Well.
Fee: There is no fee for visiting the Well.
Pets permitted on a leash and with a “clean up” bag.

Directions: Take Hwy. 89 though Cottonwood, stay on Main Street though Old Town, just before
Clarkdale, turn right.

Please Help Preserve Our Heritage Sites for Yourselves and the Future by Following These Guidelines
Walls are fragile and continually deteriorating. Do not climb, sit or stand on walls. Do not pick up or move rocks.
Artifacts, where they lay, tell a story. Do not dig, remove, or pile up artifacts.
Cultural deposits, including soils, are important to scientific testing. Do not add anything, including offerings, to a site.
Fire destroys prehistoric materials. Absolutely no fires, campfires, candles, smudging or smoking at the sites.
Oils from hands can cause deterioration of the drawings. Do not touch rock art.
Graffiti is destructive and can destroy rock art, buildings and trees. Do not vandalize the sites.
Desert plants, soils and animals are fragile. Stay on trails.
Domestic animals can damage sites. Pets are not allowed at the Forest Service sties.
