Financial Aid ServicesSome students may qualify for grants (funds that do not have to be repaid) to assist with the cost of tuition. all students are encouraged to file the fafSa and may be eligible for federal grants and loans.

Orientation Processan orientation program designed to familiarize new students with hnu is held prior to the beginning of each semester.

Academic Support ServicesServices include free one-on-one tutoring or group tutoring, computer and internet access, study skills workshops, consultation on effective study habits, and much more.

Math Lab and Writing Studiothe math lab is a drop-in math tutoring center open five days and three evenings every week that provides support for all levels of math instruction. the writing Studio provides support for all disciplines at all stages of the writing process.

admissionsAdmission Requirementsthere are no application deadlines for most adult degree completion programs. application materials are processed and reviewed as space allows, and students can begin their classes in the fall, spring, or summer.

all completion programs have the following requirements*:

have reached the age of 24 by the start of the term you are applying for

have at least three years of work experience

have a minimum cumulative gpa of 2.20 from previous college coursework

for adult students, recent achievements and the motivation to learn are frequently more reliable indicators of success in a degree program than are the records of college classes taken earlier in their lives. Students who do not meet some of the general requirements may be accepted on the basis of other considerations. * If you have not completed your general education

requirements, consult an enrollment counselor about your options.

Application Process

all degree completion programs require that students submit the following application documents:

a completed application form (fill out an application online at www.hnu.edu or download a hard copy and submit the completed form to the admissions office)

personal statement (one to four pages about you and your academic goals)

official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

one letter of recommendation

a current resume

once you have submitted all of your completed documents to the admissions office, the registrar’s office will evaluate your transferable units and gpa.

Special Status StudentsInterested in taking a few classes without officially enrolling? as a special status student, you may take a class to grow professionally, strengthen your academic qualifications, or enrich your life experience. tuition for special status students is based on the number of class units.
