HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF
LAS PIAS NORTH NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
as Pias North National High School formerly Las Pias
Municipal High School, Vergonville Annex started its existence when Mrs.
Aurora Arevalo, the former District I Supervisor of Las Pias informed the
Division Superintendent Dr. Filemon Salas of an existing two-storey, 6
classroom building at Vergonville Elementary School.
ay 1990, Dr. Salas opened Las Pias Municipal High School,
Vergonville Annex and designated Mrs. Adrelina T. Villanueva as the Officer-
In-Charge of the newly created school. She became the OIC for three years,
from school year 1990-1993.

first year to fourth year classes, with a population of One thousand two
hundred twenty (1,220) students, mostly residing on nearby subdivision.
n the 18th of November 1992, Municipal Resolution No. 382-
92 series of 1992 was made converting Las Pias Municipal High School,
Vergonville Annex to Las Pias North Municipal High School.

The school was separated and gained its independence last
January 29, 1993. Their first commencement exercise was held last March,
1993.
pril of 1993, Mrs. Maria Luisa R. Santos was transferred to Las
Pias North National High School as Principal up to February 2000 while Mrs.
Adrelina Villanueva was transferred to Las Pias East National High School.
arch 2000, Dr. Maria Luisa R. Santos was brought back to
Las Pias East National High School so the position for principal at Las Pias
North National High School became vacant. The Division Office decided to
place an Officer-In-Charge in the person of Dr. Francisca L. Banan from
February 22 to October 26, 2000 while waiting for a qualified applicant.
October 27, 2000, Mr. Ricardo B. Delos Santos, the OIC of Golden Acres
Annex- came to this school. September of 2010 the faculty and staff of Las
Pias North National High School welcomed their new Principal, Mr. Carlos
Alexander S. Rigon.
t present, the school has One hundred (100) faculty members
composed of: One (1) Principal, Four (4) Department Heads, Five (5)
Coordinators and Ninety (90) teachers.
tudents are residents of Vergonville Subdivision; others came
from Zapote, Bacoor, CAA and nearby areas.

History of Las Pias City
as Pias was one of the earliest fishing settlements on the shores of
Manila Bay and was proclaimed a town either in the year 1762 or 1797. Its exact date of
creation cannot be ascertained because historical records vary. Cavada, a Spanish
historian and Fr. Juan Medina placed it at 1762 while Buzeta recorded the date at 1797.
esides being famous for its Bamboo Organ, which was built by Fr. Diego
Cera and completed in 1824, the town of Las Pias was also a major war theater during
the 1896 Philippine Revolution, as it was occupied by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldos forces. It
was also occupied by the Japanese during the Second World War, the town was during
the liberation period between the combined Filipino and American soldiers fought the
Japanese Imperial forces until the end of war.
n 1901, the Municipality of Las Pias was incorporated in the newly
created province of Rizal pursuant to Philippine Commission Act No. 137. Two years
later, it was combined with Paraaque, the latter being the seat of a new municipal
government.
t became a separate municipality from Paraaque on March 27, 1907 by
virtue of Philippine Commission Act No. 1625. Then, with the founding of the
Metropolitan Manila Area (now Metro Manila) in 1976, Las Pias became one of the
municipalities making up the region.

n February 12, 1997, President Fidel V. Ramos signed the bill declaring
Las Pias a new city. A plebiscite held a month after found the residents in approval of
cityhood and Las Pias became the 10th city of Metro Manila on March 26, 1997.
Geography
as Pias City is bounded on the north and northeast by the city of
Paraaque; on the east and southeast by the city of Muntinlupa; on the south by the
municipality of Imus, Cavite; on the southwest and west by the municipality of Bacoor,
Cavite; and on the northwest by the scenic Manila Bay. It occupies a total land area of
41.54sq.kilometers.
