MESSAGE H.E. MR. MAMNOON HUSSAIN
PRESIDENT /CHIEF SCOUT PAKISTAN
“The observance of World Scout Day on
22nd February every year signifies
appreciation and recognition of the
invaluable services of thousands of
young scouts across the world who
serve the humanity keeping aside all
consideration of blood, race, creed etc.
It is an occasion to pay tribute to the
founder of the scouting movement Lord
Stephenson Smith Baden Powell and his
followers who provided the youth an
organized platform to render their
services for the welfare of their fellow
beings. On this occasion therefore, I
wish to commend the entire Scouts
fraternity, especially the scouts of
Pakistan, for their continued services to
the humanity and also for serving as a
source of inspiration to the young
people.
The real significance and the true
purpose of the movement was clearly
explained by our Quaid who observed
that ‘Scouting can play a very vital role
in forming the character of our youth,
promoting their physical mental and
spiritual development, and making
them well disciplined, useful and good
citizens.’ Indeed the words of the
Founder of the Nation that “if our
young people learn to befriend all, to
help other people at all times,
subordinate personal interest to the
welfare of others, eschew violence of
thought, word and action” would
continue to serve not only as a great
source of strength for the movement
itself but would remain a great source
of inspiration and guidance to all of us
in our efforts towards nation-building
process.
On this occasion, I would like to
appreciate Pakistan Boy Scouts

Through this movement the youth have
the opportunities to shape their lives
and serve their communities in a better
way regardless to blood, race & creed.
As such, this is an occasion for all of us
to renew our pledge and commitment
to the noble cause & values of scouting.
The role of Scouts in Peace time and in
disasters has been acknowledged by all
of us. Scouts have proved through their
performance that they are always ready
for a good turn as per their motto “Be
Prepared” and adhere to their promise
and law. I wish to express my
appreciation of the valuable services
rendered by our Scouts during natural
disasters in the country.
Lord Baden Powell in his last message
to the scouts said that “the real way to
get happiness is by giving out happiness
to other people. Try to leave this world
a little better than you found it.”
Accordingly we all should try our best
to improve the environmental
conditions, help others and make the
world a Peaceful place.
Keeping in view the unusual law and
order situation in the country we have
chosen the theme of 2014 as “Peace
through Scouting” and scouts of
Pakistan will play their helpful role to
maintain and promote the peace in
their respective jurisdictions. Also
under this theme more than 5000
scouts will gather in Khairpur, Sindh for
14th National Scouts Jamboree.
We are continuously in the process of
improving our national training and
programme system to meet the
requirements of the youth and leaders
to enable them to face the challenges
of the future.
I appeal to the parents to encourage
their children to join scouts movement.
I also appeal to all the educational
institutions of the country for
establishment of Scout Units in their
respective institutions. I assure to give
all the support and patronage to their
organizations.
I wish the scouting movement in
general and in Pakistan in particular a
greater success and pray that it may
become an important mechanism for
promoting peace and harmony in the
country.
Long live Pakistan and Scouting.
