Robust, hard wearing cable
The advanced protective PVC coating on ThermoSphere screed heating cable protects the heating element during installation and provides a long product life span.
In screed heating
Suitable for installation in concrete screeds of 40mm to 100mm. For optimum efficiency, cables should be fixed to foil faced insulation boards before screeding.
Efficient storage heating effect
In screed systems have a slower heat up and cool down time and are suited to rooms that are in constant use. Take advantage of cheaper low cost energy tariffs such as off peak Economy 7 by heating up the floor construction during off peak times.
Primary or secondary heating
ThermoSphere screed heating cable is suitable for both primary and supplementary heating applications, in insulated properties.
Flexible cable spacing
The heating output per m² can be adjusted by varying the cable spacing to achieve your designed heating output.
ThermoSphere screed heating cable is designed for use in40 - 100mm screed layers.
In screed heating systems are ideal for new build projects where floor height is not an issue. ThermoSphere screed heating cable allows you to construct floor surfaces than can be finished later in the project allowing you freedom of choice in floor covering.

Fixing optionsThermoSphere screed heating cable can be fixed in position with one of two fixing methods. You can use the cable staples and tacker gun to fix to foil faced insulation or use the galvanised fixing profile for installing onto other substrates.
Screed cable fixing profileA 25m roll of galvanised steel fixing profile. Can be mechanically fixed to timber or concrete substrates.
Screed cable staple and gunFor easy installation onto foil faced insulation boards with 8mm staples.

Useful calculations
1. How much heating cable do I need?Calculate your total heated area and multiply by the heat output required (eg 120W/m²). Then choose the relevant cable from the list.
Example: 21m² x 120W/m² = 2520W required.
Therefore choose the 144Lm cable (2600W).
2. How many staples do I need?Allow 4 staples per linear metre of cable
Example: 144Lm x 4 = 576 staples
3. How much fixing profile do I need?Cable Lm / 6 = Lm of fixing profile required.
Example: 144Lm / 6 = 24Lm of fixing cable for cable stock code 3062 (144 Lm)
4. How do I work out my cable spacing?Take the total heated area (m²) and multiply by 100. Then divide by the length of cable you have chosen. This gives you your cable spacing in cm.
Example: 21m² x 100 / 144Lm = 14.5cm.
Please note: The lower the output per m², the greater the cable spacing will be.
ThermoSphere do not recommend spacing further than 15cm or closer than 5cm.

Your fixing strips should be laid at a right angle to your Thermoduo cable and spaced in intervals approx 0.75m apart.Install 2 floor temperature sensors within a conduit at this point
Starting from a corner, roll the insulation around the perimeter of the room. Also insulate all pipes and fixed obstacles.
This allows the screed to expand and contract when heated. Failure to allow for this expansion could result in a breakage in the screed.
You can simply screed directly over ThermoSphere screed heating cable but take extra care not to damage the yellow cable in any way. Screed over the floor in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer guidelines.
Allow the screed to fully cure before switching your new ThermoSphere screed heating cable system on.
Always follow screed manufacturer’s guidelines.
Starting from the position of your thermostat to lay your ThermoSphere cable. The cable should run at 900 to the fixing profile. It is essential to have an even 50mm (absolute minimum)spacing between each run of cable to ensure even distribution of heat.
