Heat-insulating and passable
The greened inner courtyards in the two buildings of the Kö-Bogen in Duesseldorf were builded on a
high-pressure and dimensionally stable thermal insulation of the underlying steel concrete floor.
There were used Multipor mineral insulation boards, which could be adapted to the amorphous
building geometry.

With the Kö-Bogen, the city of
Düsseldorf has used the historically
unique opportunity to restore the
urban structures of the 19th century in
the city center. Designed by star
architect Daniel Libeskind, the
ensemble of buildings combines the
Hofgarten with the Königsallee and at
the same time sets new accents in the
urban ensemble, which has been given
its decisive influence by architectural
projects such as the Schauspielhaus,
the Dreischeibenhaus, the Opera and
the modern design of a fashion store.
The irregular roof surfaces created by
the curved geometry of the Kö-Bogen
buildings made a special impression.
Requirements for the design and construction of the floors, which were insulated with Multipor. An insulation material was required, which, due to the planned design and use as a roof garden, has a particularly high compressive strength, in addition to good thermal insulation properties.
The choice finally fell on Multipor
Mineral Insulation Boards DAA. The
result is an ecological, completely
mineral insulating material that has high
thermal insulation properties.
With a nominal compressive strength
of more than 300 kPa and a rated
value for the permanent pressure
load = 12 t / m², the mineral
insulation panels have above all the
required high compressive strength
and offered the best technical
conditions for a safe construction.
