Her Campus U Ottawa, an online magazine and campus chapter, proudly hosted their second annual fashion show on Saturday, Jan. 25 [2013 at the National Arts Centre], raising funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation Ontario.¹
The fashion show gala is an annual event hosted by Her Campus U Ottawa where attendees check out and support local Ottawa talent in an evening of entertainment, good food and great company. With the end of Ottawa Fashion Week, we are the largest attended fashion show in the capital. Participating designers, companies and organisations are given the unique opportunity to showcase their work, network with others and connect with their customers.
As Her Campus members we are trying to make a positive difference through our actions. Last year’s charity fashion show, Catwalk for the Cure, began as a project to create awareness, educate, and raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation Ontario, a cause relevant to our mission of addressing events, issues and matters that pertain to young females.
This year Her Campus U Ottawa is focusing on supporting the academic journey of the Ottawa U Student as our fashion show and gala will serve as a fundraiser for the Her Campus U Ottawa Scholarships.

Average undergraduate and graduate tuition fees in Ontario are the highest in the country and the Ontario government spends
less per student than any other provincial government.
Undergraduate students in Ontario pay nearly $1,500 more in tuition fees than the Canadian national average. The University of Otawa’s board of governors has approved tuition hikes for the ninth consecutive year, adding to the financial strain faced by our peers.
For this reason our gala and fashion show will be held in honour of the Her Campus U Ottawa Scholarships, designed to support the studies of four students in the fields of: Business, Engineering, Communications and Environmental Science.
In order to apply for the scholarship in their respective field, students will provide Her Campus U Ottawa with: 2 reference letters Their résumé A personal statement including a brief narrative relating the role of women to their respective field
After applications have been reviewed and approved by designated members of the Her Campus U Ottawa team, applicants will attend an interview directed by the Her Campus U Ottawa Scholarship Selection Committee.
Winners will be awarded with their estimated $1,000 scholarship at the gala and be honoured with a seat at the winner’s table, an item from designers, Her Campus U Ottawa swag and a Her Campus U Ottawa Campus Celebrity Article.
