‘Halcyon Joey’ is currently downing a bottle
every four hours and will soon be dining on
pellets, lucern and grass.
Recently awarded 2012 Gold Coast Citizen
of the year Trish is particularly fond of
‘Halcyon Joey’ and will oversee his 12
month long rehabilitation. In about seven
months time he will be old enough to be
moved to a pre-release site to meet other
joeys his size and age and form a mob. The
final step will be when ‘Halcyon Joey’ and his
new mob are released back into the wild at
a special release site.

The rescue of‘Halcyon Joey’
Boost in sales kicks off the New YearIf you thought the festive season meant
putting things on hold, then you might need
to think again as December and January
moved against normal seasonal trends to
become some of the busiest months of the
year. December saw 14 new home owners
move to Halcyon Waters, just in time to
spend their first Christmas and New Year at
home in the award winning community. Not
to be outdone, January has started 2012 in a
fashion reminiscent of the good ole’ days.
Project Director Marie Cone reports, “The
strong sales that we have been experiencing
are a combination of a variety of factors.
The Government Building Boost coupled
with several interest rate drops, have given
the residential property market a much
needed shot in the arm. With economists
predicting further interest rate cuts early in
the New Year, confidence is being restored
as Gold Coast properties become more
affordable once again. This combined
with the significant development currently
underway in Hope Island means over 50s,
both local and interstate, are discovering that
Hope Island is the retirement playground of
South East Queensland”.
And it’s not hard to see why. Hope Island
is surrounded by world class golf courses,
kilometres of waterways and hundreds
of acres of natural parklands. Neighbours
include Sanctuary Cove, the Hope Island
Resort and the future Hope Island Town
Centre. Add the new Mater Health Centre
into the mix and it’s the icing on the cake
for this beautiful island paradise.
So no rest for the Sales Team as they
prepare now for the final release of new
homes ‘The Lifestyle Series’. For a sneak
preview of this much awaited series of
homes, contact the Sales Team today to

Mater comes to Hope IslandAn artist’s impression of the new Mater Health Centre

Good Health is on its way...
It won’t be long now before home owners
at Halcyon Waters will be able to simply
stroll over to the new Mater Health Centre
to pick up a prescription or visit the physio.
You can literally see the 1450m2 facility
coming out of the ground as construction
work progresses on the single level facility.
The $6million development is the result
of a unique alliance between Halcyon and
Mater Health Services and is expected to be
a popular addition to the local community,
delivering seamless holistic health services.
Labelled the Gold Coast’s first multi-
disciplinary medical centre, the Mater Health
Centre will be home to a comprehensive
range of health services. Specialist suites,
allied health services, radiology/medical
imaging, Mater Pharmacy and a Mater
Pathology collection centre are just some
of the services offered. Halcyon has also
secured leases with general practitioners and
dental practitioners to complete the modern
health facility.
Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and
Redland Executive Director Don Murray
said Mater was committed to meeting the
growing health care needs of the Northern
Gold Coast region. “Hope Island and the
North Shore of the Gold Coast have been
identified as a region where Mater’s services
would benefit the community,” Mr Murray
said.
“This proposal includes a number of
opportunities available for private specialists
to practice in the medical suites, giving
local residents access to specialist care in
a number of disciplines in one convenient
location,” he said.
Halcyon Joint Managing Director Dr Bevan
Geissmann said he had experienced first
hand the ‘quality of care and people that is
Mater’ during his years in medical service.
“We are obviously delighted and proud to
be associated with Mater Health Services
and together we plan to deliver not only
a great multi disciplinary health centre,
but a great outcome for the people of
the Northern end of the Gold Coast,” Dr
Geissmann said.

All bedrooms will be single with individual
ensuite bathrooms as well as providing
warm and inviting communal living and
dining rooms. The residents will also enjoy
an on site café, beauty salon and Arcare’s
first ever physiotherapy service that will
be provided via Active Rehabilitation
Physiotherapy, in conjunction with the
Mater Health Centre. When operational
the Arcare facility will employ over 130
people in key sectors such as nursing,
hospitality, maintenance and administration,
all committed to genuine care.

Good Health is on its way...
More good news for Hope Island with the
announcement of a new Arcare aged care
facility to be constructed in the Halcyon
Health Precinct. One of Australia’s leading
providers of aged care services, Arcare
chose Hope Island because of the significant
development prospects of the North Shore
region, believing that it was an ideal location
in which to establish their 17th community
orientated aged care facility.
Arcare Hope Island will showcase a
contemporary take on the best traditional
Queensland architecture creating a truly
stunning modern aged care facility. The
108 bed facility will cater for both low
(hostel) and high (nursing home) residents.
The facility will also provide a specialised
‘Sensitive Care Unit’ catering for the needs
of residents with a diagnosis of Dementia or
Alzheimers.

Roger and Marlene Glover
Saturday 24 September
It’s all about the neighboursEven if the ‘12 wine glasses’ syndicate ever
wins Gold Lotto, Roger and Marlene Glover
wouldn’t trade their new home at Halcyon
Waters for anything else. The ‘12 wine
glasses’ syndicate is, in fact a shining example
of why their new home means so much
to them. In 33 years living in their large
Gold Coast canal front home, the Glover’s
only ever knew a few of their neighbours,
which takes us back to the ‘12 wine glasses
syndicate’. Roger explains “The syndicate is
an idea a group of us came up with at one
of the street parties we have here regularly,
it’s something we couldn’t have done before!
Now we have neighbours who are close
friends after just 2 months of living here”.
The experience of moving to Halcyon
Waters made a series of lasting impressions
on the Glovers from the moment they
first arrived at the multiple award winning
community for a look around. “The welcome
from the Sales staff was absolutely fantastic”
said Roger. “And we were taken by all the
space, wide streets and way the homes
are set back from the street” he added.
A look inside two of the display homes
and the retired head honcho of Glover
Form, (a building company involved in the
construction of homes at Sovereign Island
and along Hedges Avenue) and his wife
knew this was for them.
“We really appreciated the efforts of the
Sales staff who were there with us all the
way throughout the process of selling our

This is our story
home. They helped us with agents, even
came to support us at the auction” said
Marlene.
For Roger even the day they moved in was
memorable for all the right reasons. The
removalists van had broken down a couple
of houses up from the Glover’s new home.
Normally this would be a problem, not so at
Halcyon Waters. In a gesture the Glover’s will
never forget, a new neighbour had already
seen Roger’s dilemma and in no time a large
4wd and a heavy-duty tow rope had towed
the van up to the correct address.
As for the home, they have replaced
the waterfront view for a natural change
of scenery that includes kangaroos and
cockatoos. “We’ve downsized but not
horrendously” laughed Marlene. Take a look
around their ‘Sandpiper’ Terrace home with
its soaring ceilings and you would agree. “The
house is huge, this is our dream home and it
comes with the best neighbours we’ve ever
had,” she said.
The Glovers are equally proud of their
unique Terraced backyard with its outdoor
setting and sandstone tiles. This Terrace
boasts 9 varieties of citrus trees with a few
chillies and peppers thrown in for good
measure. Roger is also particularly proud of
the passionfruit vine that is flourishing and
filled with luscious fruit.
The first Christmas in their new home was
also special. The Glover’s daughter, (who
incidentally is the co-creator of the best
selling cupcake publication ‘The Primrose
Cupcake Bakery Book’) along with her film
director husband and their two sons, aged
17 and 11, flew in from London. Also flying
in for Christmas from Sydney this time was
the Glover’s son and his partner, who Roger
and Marlene fondly call their ‘other daughter’.
It seems 11 year old grandson Ned was
in his element over Christmas, spotting
‘roos and playing soccer with his ‘Gran and
Pop’ and the rest of the family down at
Celebration Park. Overall the reaction from
the family on Roger and Marlene’s new
home and lifestyle was unanimous. “You’ve
done the right thing, this place is incredible,
it’s perfect for you” they said. Roger and
Marlene couldn’t agree more. “We are
over the moon, we really feel like this is a
better life that we are living now. We also
know that if we really needed any help, our
neighbours would be there for us through
thick and thin as we would be for them.”

The Marcoola
Like all Halcyon communities, the
focus for 2012 is all about health
and wellbeing, and at Halcyon Parks
the home owners have embraced
the notion. ‘Commit to be fit’ beach
walks; Aqua Aerobics; Tai Chi; Yoga;
Table Tennis; Feldenkrais; Croquet;
Lawn bowls; Golf; Line Dancing and
now Zumba! These are just some of
the activities that the home owners
get together to enjoy on a regular
basis, at the same time keeping fit
and having fun with friends and

Each new Halcyon lifestyle community
delivers something new and at Halcyon
Landing the list is extensive. Once
again, the design team have come
up with something special, and it’s
completely unique to Halcyon Landing.
The striking Marcoola is one of the new
Coastal series homes, created to make
the most of the local conditions.
In the true spirit of the beach house,
the homes feature both an upper and
a lower level. Downstairs it’s all about
space for the ‘toys’ with room for up to
three vehicles, or two vehicles and extra
room for hobbies or storage. Brush
off the sand and head to the upper
level and immediately you’re struck by
the sensation of space. The spacious

that flow through this contemporary

Santa pays a visitWhile the reindeers joined the kangaroos
down at Celebration Park for a bit of a spell,
Santa opted for a golf buggy to spread some
good old fashioned cheer around Halcyon
Waters on Christmas Day.
With Grandchildren visiting their
Grandparents for Christmas, it wasn’t long
before ‘Santa’ (who looked surprisingly similar
to popular Halcyon Waters’ caretaker Mark
Young) was the centre of attention, handing
out treats and good wishes to all.
It was like a scene from the Pied Piper as
Santa wound his way through the streets,
where many of the homes were decorated
with lights to celebrate the festive season.
Then Santa made his way back down to
the Lakehouse and Celebration Park to find
Rudolph and the rest of the gang, before
continuing on his long journey!
If you wanted to see a perfect example
of the vast range of home owner interest
groups and activities on offer, you should
have been at Halcyon Waters’ recent
Health and Lifestyle Expo. It was a close
up look at what really goes on behind the
gates.
From arts and craft to Zumba and
everything in between, it really was the A
to Z of all things active, interesting and fun.
Booths were dotted around the community
with home owners only too pleased to
hand out advice and a ‘fact sheet’ about the
special interest group or activity that they
are so passionate about.
Existing home owners also got the chance
to check out new interests that they had
never tried before, mingling with prospective
purchasers throughout the day. Although
not so much an activity, the BBQ was
another hit, with Expo goers lining up to
enjoy a snack as they wandered around the
community.
