Ground-handling-specific occurrences• Incorrecthandlingorloadingofpassengers,baggage,mail

orcargo,likelytohaveasignificanteffectonaircraftmassandbalance(includingsignificanterrorsinload-sheetcalculations)

• Boardingequipmentremoved,leadingtotheendangermentofpassengers

• Incorrectstowageorsecuringofbaggage,mailorcargolikelytoendangertheaircraft,equipmentoroccupantsorimpedeemergencyevacuation

• Transport,attemptedtransportationorhandlingofdangerousgoodsthatresultedinorcouldhaveresultedinunsafeconditions/operations

• Non-complianceregardingbaggageorpassengerreconciliation

• Non-compliancewithrequiredaircraftgroundhandlingandservicingprocedures(e.g.de-icing,refuellingorloadingprocedure,includingpositioningorremovalofequipment)

• Significantspillageduringfuellingoperations• Loadingofincorrectfuelquantitieslikelytohavea

significanteffectonaircraftendurance,performance,balance or structural strength

• Loadingofcontaminatedorincorrecttypeoffuelorotheressentialfluids(e.g.oxygen,nitrogen,oilorpotablewater)

• Failure,malfunctionordefectofgroundhandlingequipment,resultingindamageorpotentialdamagetoaircraft(e.g.towbarorGPU)

• Missing,incorrectorinadequatede-icing/anti-icingtreatment

• Damagetoaircraftbygroundhandlingequipmentorvehicle

• Anyoccurrencewherehumanperformancehasdirectlycontributed to an accident or serious incident

WHY IS REPORTING SO IMPORTANT?Theeffectivemanagementofsafetyishighlydependentontheeffectivenessofsafetydatacollection,analysisandoverallmanagementcapabilities.

Havingasolidfoundationofsafetydataandsafetyinformation isfundamentalforsafetymanagement,sinceitisthebasisfor data-drivendecision-making.

Reliablesafetydataandsafetyinformationisrequiredtoidentifytrends,makedecisionsandevaluatesafetyperformanceinrelationtosafetytargetsandsafetyobjectives,andtoassessrisk.
