Granite Sealing Instructions Please note that these instructions are not for sealers that are specially ordered, these instructions are only for the sealer that Adelaide Marble Specialists provide as their standard sealer (you should receive this in a 250ml silver tin) The application of sealer delays liquid penetration into the stone. Sealer does not guarantee your stone does not stain so always remember to clean up any spills immediately. What you need:
• Methylated Spirits • 4-‐5 clean cotton cloths/ no bigger than 20cm by 20cm • 1 tin 250ml sealer (that AMS has provided)
Directions: Step 1. Tops must be dust/dirt free prior to sealing.
• Using a cotton cloth, wipe down tops with methylated spirits to remove any dust or dirt
Step 2.
• Apply some sealer on to a cotton cloth, and liberally apply the cloth on your top. Ensure that any white writing on your tops is removed with the first coat
• Your tops should look like a wet surface • Wait 1 hour
Step 3.
• Apply another coat
• Wait 1 hour
Step 4.
• Apply another coat
• Wait 2 hours
• If your stone is a dark colour, it should start to look dull and the sealer residue will look very smeary-‐ this means that the sealer has penetrated into the pores of the stone. With lighter colours this is not so obvious.
Step 5. The excess sealer can now be removed by buffing it off with several clean cloths.
• Apply a small amount of sealer on to a clean cloth
• Covering no more than half a square metre at a time, in a buffing type motion, you can start to remove excess sealer
• Be patient for darker colours and ensure that all excess sealer is removed as it will make cleaning harder if there is still sealer residue on your tops
• Your stone should be back to its original shiny finish
