“Let us dare to read, think, speak and write...” ~ John Adams JULY 2018
Our New Director
Most of you know that Michele Lawson retired from
the Bell County Public Library System on June 30,
2018, after 37 years of service. She was serving as
Acting Director since February 2014, when Beverly
Greene passed away, but had performed many jobs
during her tenure. She will be greatly missed. The
Board of Trustees feels confident in its hiring of a
new director that will carry on the business of the
library and its mission in our community.
Introducing Jeanna Cornett:
“I’m Jeanna and I’m so
happy to be your new library
director! Although I’m new
to most of you, I’ve worked
with Bell County’s libraries,
librarians and trustees as a
regional librarian for the
Kentucky Department for
Libraries and Archives since 2006, and lived in Bell
County while attending Lincoln Memorial
University. My favorite book in our library’s
collection is Mystery Train by Greil Marcus – you
can find it in our Overdrive e-book collection!”
A Big THANK
YOU to the Youth
Group and leaders
from Edgewood
Baptist Church,
Nicholasville, KY,
for weeding all of
the landscaped
areas around the
Pineville-Bell County Library as a service project!
They were staying at Clear Creek Baptist Bible
College for a Youth Camp.
The Middlesborough Garden Club donated the book,
“Succulent Container Gardens,” to the Middlesboro
Library during National Garden Week. Their display of
succulent plants was very creative. Thank You!
Pictures from Summer Reading can
be found on Page 7 and the Insert.
Where has Miss Piddle and the
Bookmobile been lately?

Bookmobile: On the Go!
The Bell County Bookmobile travels around Bell
County, over barrow bridges and up and down steep
driveways. But it’s all beautiful!
Miss Piddle took
the Bookmobile to
the Bell County
Fair and told
families about our
Library Services.
The Bookmobile visited Bell-Whitley Comprehensive
Care Center, Bell County Senior Citizens, Just Family
Adult Daycare Center, and Horizons Adult Daycare
Center for programs on Flag Day and also learned about
our Independence Day Holiday and made decorations.
Children at the East End Bell Whitley Head Start
has a visit from the Bookmobile and they learned
about the American Flag, Flag Day (June 14), and
made flag bracelets.

as a “bona fide” volunteer! Until then she
