The State of Jharkhand was brought into existence on 15th November 2000 after carving 79.70 lakh hectares geographical area from the State of Bihar for better planning and execution of development activities of a ecologically different zone (Hills & Plateau region compared to Bihar plains). Jharkhand state is endowed with vast and rich natural resources mainly those of minerals, forest & rich agro climatic zones suitable for horticulture, fisheries, dairy, and forest produce.

The state is home to premier research and academic institutes like XLRI, NIT Jamshedpur, Birsa Agriculture University, IIM Ranchi, Indian Institute of Technology (ISM), India Institute of natural Resins and Gums, ICAR etc. This makes Jharkhand one of the key valuable human resource hub as well as research hub in the country. Large proportion of young population provides a unique proposition to the investors.
