Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Accounting, Information Systems and Decision Sciences at Kellogg School of

Welcome to GLIEMR!
GLIEMR has been set up with a vision to be the leading academic and research institute in Asia for developing
leadership talent and innovative solutions for the Energy sector. It is an endeavor to create world class human resources
and knowledge capital to support the rapidly growing energy sector in India and the dynamically evolving energy
landscape globally. Estimated to be a 6-trillion dollar economy, Energy could become the largest opportunity of the 21st
century.
India today is investing profoundly to build core infrastructure to support her accelerated economic growth. Her energy
sector itself is expected to attract over 300 billion dollars of investments in the next 5-years. This sector contributes to
8% of the country's GDP. The growth of the sector provides very lucrative career opportunities for young professionals
to participate at an exciting phase of transition and expansion as Catalysts of Change (CoC) and to take on top leadership
positions in the foreseeable future. GLIEMR's innovative and industry-backed Post-Graduate Management Programs
focus on developing strong business management skills and leadership qualities coupled with an opportunity to gain
specific domain knowledge in the key areas.

Dr. Naidu is the brain behind the models and paradigms of GLIEMR's unique curriculum. Widely acknowledged
as Power Management Guru, he is the motivational force behind the Faculty Members & 'Leadership
Development Program' at GLIEMR. Dr. Naidu served as the Director General of the National Power Training
Institute (NPTI), Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) and Reliance Energy Limited (REL). His Leadership at
NPTI has been made the subject of a case study on Transformational Leadership for MBA students and he
himself has been one of the models of study on Human Excellence at IIM, Ahmedabad. Dr. Naidu was a key
architect of the National Perspective Plan for R&D and the National Training Policy for the Power Sector. He has a
double Doctorate in Engineering and Management, is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering,
placed with 666 most distinguished engineers and scientists of our country, and has authored 145 publicationsincluding 15 books. He has won 13 individual awards (national and international) besides representing India at
many International forums including his lead speech at the UN General Assembly and the First GEF Assembly.

Vice Chairman's Message
Thanks for your interest in the Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) at GLIEMR, a program designed by highly
experienced and relevant experts to develop managers that would become the next generation of leaders in the dynamic global
energy sector.
The Energy sector globally is at an inflexion point with realization everywhere that status quo is not sustainable. Energy Security
and Climate Change are on every country's policy agenda. While developed countries are investing heavily in green energy and
introducing regulations to change their energy source mix, developing countries such as India are fighting hard to meet the energy
demand to sustain their growth and investing in all forms of energy. In particular, the Power and Renewable Energy sectors in Indiaare witnessing unprecedented investments and participation of private players, both domestic and international.
In such a scenario, the lack of suitably trained and knowledgeable human capital poses a major threat to the fructification of these
investments. As owners, investors, managers and consultants, the founding team and advisors of GLIEMR have experienced this
challenge first hand. Given that traditional business school curricula do not address the Energy sector, we felt the need for a
specialized management program tailored to the Energy sector, resulting in the development of the PGPM at GLIEMR. The PGPM
is unique in its vision, content, exposure and experience and will produce the most industry-ready managers for the Energy sector
in India with the knowledge and skills required to contribute meaningfully to their future employers from day one itself.
Additionally, right from its inception, GLIEMR has benefited from the support of key stakeholders such as the Ministry of Power
and MNRE, regulators such as CEA and CERC and our Corporate Partners who have helped design the curriculum, participated in
guest speaker sessions, hosted students at operational projects, etc. Our Corporate Partners include well known multinational and
domestic firms across the spectrum of the energy industry including equipment manufacturers like Andritz and Wartsila, Utility IT
companies like Ferranti, and developers like Athena, Asian Genco, Navyuga, Indbharat and Clean Energy Companies like Moser
Baer. This support of both Industry thought leaders and Corporates is an affirmation of the Institute's vision, relevance, timeliness
and goal to be the leading leadership and management development institute for the Energy sector.
A key highlight of the PGPM experience is the Industry lecture series which brings in Thought Leaders, Career Role Models,
Entrepreneurs and Leadership Trainers to the class, one every week to facilitate student's learning, exposure and help them
understand their own interests better. By such regular interactions, participation in many industry conferences and live projects at
companies, our candidates develop relevant practical knowledge and networks that would greatly contribute to their careers.
They also undergo focused training on essential skill areas like financial modelling and project management.
GLIEMR PGPM candidates are passionate about the Energy sector and its future and are highly motivated to pursue impactful
careers that this talent-hungry high growth sector offers. With an average pre-business school work experience of over two yearsand two years of highly targeted and high quality learning, they would be ready to take up challenging positions of responsibility in
dynamic organizations in the Energy sector.
Mr. Mohan Lakhamraju has over 10 years of experience as an entrepreneur and private equity investor. He has been
actively involved with the education sector for the past five years and his passion for quality education led to the
genesis of GLIEMR. Most recently, Mr. Lakhamraju served as a Managing Director at Tiger Global, a global
investment firm headquartered in New York, where he set up and managed their India office. Earlier, Mr. Lakhamraju
was an Associate at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a premier Venture Capital firm based in Silicon Valley, California, where
he was responsible for their India investments. Prior to that, he was a founding member of Stratify, a softwaretechnology company based in Mountain View, California, which was acquired by Iron Mountain, a NYSE listed
information services company. Mr. Lakhamraju received a B.Tech in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT), Mumbai, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from
Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.

The Energy Sector in India is one of the most promising and dynamic sectors to pursue a career in. With the investment
and growth being witnessed by the energy sector in India and globally, well-qualified energy professionals have an

GLIEMR is a gateway to opportunities in the sunrise energy sector. It has built and continues to foster relationships with allthe major players in the energy and infrastructure sectors, who offer opportunities to GLIEMR students in terms of
industry visits, projects, summer internships and finally, the opportunity of an excellent corporate career.
GLIEMR's programs have already been very well received by the industry with many companies commending them and
showing support through corporate partnerships, live projects and summer placements. The summer internship
placement process for PGPM Class of 2012 received an overwhelming response from the corporates. The batch which
consisted of a rich diversity in profiles witnessed internship offers from marquee names in Oil & Gas, Power,
Renewables and Consulting. Most of the profiles offered were in the domain of Strategy and Finance followed by
Marketing, Operations and HR.
The Key highlights of Summer Placements 2011 include: Participation of 25 companies from the Energy sector of which the batch was placed
within 16 of these with an average of 1.5 offers per student.
25% of the batch received offers for highly sought after consulting roles in leading
firms like Mercados, Wartsila, EAI, SN Power, etc.
Major public sector giants like HPCL, BPCL, IGL and PFC made a large number of offers.
Sponsored candidates would undertake their internships with the respective

Student Speak
IEMR is changing my business outlook and is helping me structure my thought process. There is a
great emphasis on industry interactions and senior leaders from premier organizations, Ministry of
Power, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy etc. have been regularly coming to our campus and
sharing their insights and experience. Indeed IEMR has turned out to be the best platform for all
those who had aspirations for making a mark and gaining competency in the energy sector.
Kailash is a mechanical engineer with over three years of experience and has worked with Reliance
Industries Limited and Mahindra & Mahindra previously. At IEMR, he is one of the founding members
of the Entrepreneurship Club G.R.E.E.E.N. His interests include exploring new places and social

Having worked in the infrastructure sector, I had first hand experience of the shortage of qualified
managerial talent. With the infrastructure and energy sector poised to grow exponentially, it was a
logical choice for me to join IEMR as I could leverage my experience with the unique focus that the
IEMR PGPM program offered.
Anand is a Mechanical Engineer from NIT Durgapur with three years of experience at SAIL. At IEMR, he
is a member of the Industry Interaction Committee and his interests include reading (Fiction) and
cooking.
IEMR has been an exhilarating and holistic experience. The learning curve has been steep with the
knowledge and information pouring in at a breakneck speed. More than the facts and figures, it is the
challenges and opportunity areas of the energy sector that a prospective manager should be aware of.
Apart from academics, the peer group is fantastic and brings in rich diversity in terms of education,
prior work experience and culture.
Ambuj is an electronics engineer with over 5 years of experience across some very innovative
technology companies like Juniper Networks, NetApp etc. At IEMR, he is a member of the Industry
Interaction Committee and his interests include blogging, biking and photography.
I want to build my career in Sustainability. IEMR, with its highly acclaimed faculty and industry
driven curriculum, provides balanced exposure to academic and practical aspects of this industry.
The uniqueness of the PGPM program wherein I get to specialize in functional disciplines and
domain specialization keeps me in good stead for a rewarding and successful career ahead.
Nidhi is a mechanical engineer with over two years of experience and has worked with Cummins
India and Clutch Auto previously. At IEMR, she is a part of the editorial committee and her interestsinclude cooking and driving.
The academic curriculum and pedagogy at GLIEMR are very practical and provide me an advantage
over general MBAs. The leadership team of IEMR is highly accomplished and their vision and efforts to
establish IEMR as one of the premier institutes in the Energy Sector is one of the prime reasons why I
chose IEMR over other institutes.

Admissions Process
Eligibility
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with
minimum 55% marks in any discipline from a recognized
university are eligible for admission.
Final year candidates may also apply, under the condition that
they provide documented evidence of having fulfilled the
eligibility criteria by October 1, 2011.
Applications
The Application Form may be downloaded from the website.
It must be completed and submitted with application fee of
Rs. 1000. The application fee is payable by cash at the GLIEMR
office, by a demand draft drawn on Institute of Energy
Management and Research, payable at New Delhi or by

Aptitude Test Scores
GLIEMR selection process will consider the scores of the
Common Admission Test (CAT), Xaviers' Admission Test (XAT)
and Management Aptitude Test (MAT) taken any time after
November 2009. Graduate Management Aptitude Test
(GMAT) scores taken any time since May 2008 will also be
considered for the selection process. Applicants who have not
appeared in any of the above tests would be required to takeGLIEMR Management Aptitude Test.
Candidates will be required to intimate their scores in
the Admission Form and furnish original and duplicate
copies later in the selection process. Neither the IIMs nor
any affiliated organizations have any role in selections for
GLIEMR.
Personality Assessment
GLIEMR will conduct Personality Assessment for the
shortlisted candidates at assessment centres in major cities
across India. The details for the same will be communicated tothe shortlisted candidates upon evaluation by the
admissions committee.
Offer of Admission
The final selection will be based on a weighted score of the
candidate's test scores, educational background, professional
experience and personality assessment. Successful
candidates will have to convey their acceptance of the offer
and need to deposit the admission fees of Rs. 80,000 within
the date mentioned in the offer letter, failing which the offer
will be cancelled. The Admission Fee will be adjusted against
the First Trimester Tuition Fees.
