Geophysical surveys consisting of proton precession
magnetometer, VLF electromagnetic and horizontal loop
electromagnetic traverses were conducted in Halkirk and Matten
Townships, in the Kenora Mining Division. A total of three
highly conductive zones were detected in this survey.
Further geophysical work is recommended to attain a more
detail interpretation of the HEM conductors.

INTRODUCTION
A proton precession magnetometer, VLF electromagnetic and
horizontal loop electromagnetic survey was carried out in
February, 1986 over 15 claims in Halkirk and Matten Townships in
the Kenora Mining Division.
The Reef Point Claim Group consisting of the claims
K 824705, K 839324, K 839326, and K 839327 is found in Lot 14,
Nl/2 Concession 11 of Matten Township. The Cousineau Option North
Grid covers claims K 819575, K 819576, K 819577, K 835054,
K 835056, K 835057, and K 844901 and extends from Lot l, Nl/2
Concession IV of Matten Township to Lot 11, Nl/2 Concession IV of
Halkirk Township. -The Cousineau Option South Grid covers claims
K 835059 to K 835062 inclusive and is found in Lot l, Concessions
III and IV, Matten Township.
The Reef Point property is located 20 km. northeast of Fort
Frances, 400 metres north of Highway 11. The Cousineau Option
South Grid is found 400 metres west of the junction of Highways 11
and 502 while the Cousineau Option North Grid is found 400 metres
north of the aforementioned junction.
SURVEY DESCRIPTION
For the Reef Point Grid a base line bearing 48 east was
established with crosslines cut at 100 metre intervals and
stations established every 20 metres. On the Cousineau Option
North Grid a base line bearing 152 east was established while on
the Cousineau Option South Grid an east-west baseline was
established with crosslines cut at 100 metre intervals and
2
stations every 20 metres.
Magnetic readings were taken with a Scintrex IGS-2/MP-4
proton precession magnetometer. This instrument measures the
Earth's total magnetic field to an accuracy of +0.1 nanoteslas.
The diurnal drift corrections were made using a base station
recorder.
The VLF survey was carried out with a Scintrex IGS-2/VLF-4
electromagnetic receiver. The data presented in this report is
the in-phase and quadrature components of the vertical field
vector. The in-phase readings have been converted into dip angle
measurements.
The horizontal loop survey was carried out with an Apex
Parametrics ManMin II using a coil separation of 120 metres.
Readings were taken at frequencies of 444 and 1777 Hz.
RESULTS AND INTERPRETATION
Cousineau Option North Grid :
The horizontal loop survey detected a single conductive zone
labelled anomaly A in Figure 2. An interpretation of this
anomaly is given in Table 1.
Anomaly A, represents a highly magnetic bedrock conductor
with low to extremely high conductivity thickness. As seen in
Table l there is a sharp contrast between the anomalies on Lines
7+00 S and 8+00 S and Lines 9+00 S and 10+00 S. This discrepancy
can also be seen in the magnetic and VLF electromagnetic survey
results displayed in Figures l and 3 respectively. The magnetic

and VLF anomalies that are coincident with the HEM conductor on
Lines 7+00 S and 8+00 S maintain a north-south strike while the
conductor on Lines 9+00 S and 10+00 S indicates a southeast
trend. The magnetic and VLF results also show a strong anomaly
continuing north of Line 7+00 S while the HEM anomaly terminates
between 6+50 S and 7+00 S. This magnetic and VLF electromagnetic
feature probably represents the contact between poorly magnetic
sediments to the east and magnetic mafic volcanics to the west.
The VLF results also indicate an east-west trending poorly
conductive structure, possibly a fault, coincident with the
northern extremity of conductor A. The remaining VLF anomalies
represent poorly conductive surficial sediments or weakly
conductive bedrock structures.
Cousineau Option South Grid :
The horizontal loop survey detected a single conductive zone
labelled anomaly B in Figure 5. An interpretation of this
anomaly is given in Table 2.
Anomaly B is similar to anomaly A and represents a magnetic
bedrock conductor with low to high conductivity thickness. The
magnetic and VLF electromagnetic survey results displayed in
Figures 4 and 6 show conductor B to be coincident with a roughly
east-west trending structure that probably represent a geologic
contact. This contact separates the low magnetic susceptibility
rocks in the south from the higher magnetic susceptibility rocks
in the north. The remaining VLF anomalies probably represent
weakly conductive bedrock structures.

Reef Point Claims :
The horizontal loop survey detected a single conductive zone
labelled anomaly C in Figure 8. An interpretation of this
anomaly is given in Table 3.
Anomaly C, represents a deep bedrock conductor with moderate
to high conductivity thickness. Conductor C, is found on the
east flank of a broad, erratic magnetic high which is probably
due to a magnetite rich mafic intrusion. The VLF survey results
indicate that the HEM anomaly is coincident with a northeast
striking geologic contact. The remaining ULF anomalies probably
represent weakly conductive bedrock structures.

An examination of your survey report indicates that the requirements of The Ontario Mining Act have not been fully met to warrant maximum assessment work credits. This notice is merely a warning that you will not be allowed the number of assessment work days credits that you expected and also that in approximately 15 days from the above date, the mining recorder will be authorized to change the entries on the record sheets to agree with the enclosed statement. Please note that until such time as the recorder actually changes the entry on the record sheet, the status of the claim remains unchanged.
If you are of the opinion that these changes by the mining recorder will jeopardize your clains, you may during the next fifteen days apply to the Mining and Lands Commissioner for an extension of time. Abstracts should be sent with your application.
If the reduced rate of credits does not jeopardize the status of the claims then you need not seek relief from the "Inlng and Lands Commissioner and this Notice of Intent ray be disregarded.
