Kym’s comment
Dear Families and Friends Working Bee – Thank you Many parents commented on the clean paths and appearance at the front of the school on Monday morn-ing. Thank you to a fantastic group of parents, students and teachers who came along to the working bee- Chris Bourne, Craig Billing, Andrew McKenzie, Ben Wragg, Andrea Fisher, Tabitha O’Brien, Taryn Smith and Perri Gardiner. We were able to plant a few more trees, prepare some of the vegetable garden, start painting our Picasso cow, and do a great deal of work on the back driveway. Thank you very much to Craig, leader of the Buildings and Grounds team, and his dedicated team of dads for making Gembrook PS such a great place for all in our community. Thank you also to the PFA team for providing a wonderful spread for all on Saturday. This was truly appreciated. Our Picasso cow has a name!
The Picasso cow has been named Gemmy. We look for-ward to seeing Gemmy in our garden soon!
Heroes Fun Run The Fun Run was a great success! Thank you to the many parents who were able to come along and assist on the day at check points or by joining in on the walk /run around the school block. The frozen fruit juices were a welcome treat at the end of the run. Thank you to Cameron Morgan, for organising this terrific event. Produce Market Some of the eco warriors ran the September Produce Market last Wednesday. Many thanks to Karen for as-sisting the eco warriors.

The girls from the Senior Learning Cen-tre had a fantastic time playing footy with their friends from the other EDEC schools. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the day getting muddy and having fun!
Life Education Van All students will attend the van this week. It is a ter-rific lesson in a wonderful interactive classroom. The emphasis is on varying as-pects of health education and is part of the Healthy Bodies learning unit. The

Bubbles for Peace This Friday at 10.30 we will again be blowing bubbles for peace. This is to show our support for a peaceful world free of fear and persecution. It is also to re-member the families that lost loved ones in the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami. For the first time Emerald Primary school will blow bubbles on the same day about 1 hour after we do. It is hoped that I can get more schools to join us in the coming years. It would be amazing to see the skies over the Dandenong Ranges filled with bubbles. Please feel free to bring friends, children and any one else who might be interested. If the feeling it evoked in people last time is anything to go by then it will be a truly lovely event. The school will supply bubbles but please bring your own as well! Andrea Failla LOTE
Gembrook Primary School Sports
Last week Gembrook Primary School was very busy with sporting events. On Wednesday afternoon we had our School Fun Run. The run was enjoyed by everyone who participated. Congratulations to those who ran 1, 2, 3 and even 4 laps of the fun run course. Thank you to all the staff and parents who came along to help and cheer on our delightful students. The fun run was a fundraiser to raise money for the school to help renovate our multi-purpose room. Stay tuned to hear how much our school raised on the day, and we hope everyone en-joyed their frozen juices. The next day our grade 5/6 girls were off to the EDEC Girls Footy day at Cockatoo football oval. Despite the weather and wet conditions the girls thoroughly enjoyed getting dirty and playing some good quality football. The day was won by Men-zies-Creek Primary School, but congratulations to our girls who finished 2nd winning 3 out of 5 games with a couple of close finishes. Congratulations to Dana Trott for winning Most Valuable Player for her consistent hard work and team effort. Well done to Gembrook Pri-mary School for enjoying so many sporting events and displaying our love for physical activity so enthusiastical-ly. Regards, Cameron Morgan
