Key Elements of the Petroleum Sector
Key points in 2015 Current low oil prices have changed previous hypotheses on economy and
perspectives of the oil and gas industry
This new environment requires oil producing countries to review their strategies to adapt to this new context
Gabonese Approach Reduce the operating costs applied on oil and gas services to maintain the same
levels of oil and gas production
Review the economics of the oil and gas projects to guarantee a ”win-win” partnership between government and oil companies
Adapt the fiscal and legal terms to the fluctuation of crude oil prices.

Lessons of Deep Water Blocks:
The exploration wells drilled in deep waters show a new emerging basin in Gabon to deliver hydrocarbons in the presalt;
The main gas field “Leopard” discovered by Shell in 2014, currently in appraisal phase with the drilling of well Leopard-2, is going to prove the extension of this field;
33 open blocks are available, of which 5 blocks covered by a new 3D multi-client seismic data acquired by CGG. These data upgrade the resolution of the presalt image, reducing the exploration risks;
This leads to an environment of high prospectivity for the 5 open blocks of the 11th Round.
