SIKA WATERPROOFING SOLUTIONS
THE SINGLE LARGEST CAUSE OF DAMAGE to the building envelope is commonly accepted to be attributed to water ingress.A clear understanding of the building environment including its application requirements, as well as current and future surrounds, is crucial to establishing a strong set of waterproofing requirements.Requirements analysis is the crucial first stage in the development of a robust waterproofing specification that will allow a construction that provides optimal longevity, as well as low operation and maintenance costs. A holistic life cycle approach is recommended to achieve this goal. This same approach is also recom-mended when remedial works are required.
Sika Flexible Membrane Technologies, in concert with White Box Technologies, (see Watertight Concrete Brochure) allow for the design and construction of totally watertight structures. Sika waterproofing tech-nologies are available to meet all requirements for waterproofing of a structure.

THE GROUND CONDITIONSBasements are immersed in differing levels of groundwater, and aggressive influences including damp soil contact, percolating water, water under hydrostatic pressure plus aggressive chemicals in solution, different soil, gravel and rock, etc. These all require different and often specific waterproofing treatments to be applied to the structure.
