Circle timeClasses have circle times, where

they discuss and write class rules (Good and Bad Choices).

Circle time gives us an opportunity to discuss feelings and start to develop children’s emotional literacy.

ConsistencyAll staff receive training to ensure

consistency in our practice and enables us to all use the same language and positive behaviour strategies throughout the school.

It can take time for children to get used to these strategies it is important to persevere.

can be hardThis is when children can use “Personal

Power”Encouraging children to use their personal

power is a way of helping them learn to be respectful & thoughtful towards other & themselves.

Sometimes children have a super hero.

I use my personal power to

make good choices.

Praise & rewardsOne of the most effective positive behaviour strategies we use is Praise.

praising children can enhance self-confidence and self-esteem if it is given well and is genuine.

We praise good behaviour and ignore bad behaviour because......

What we pay attention to is what we get more of.

TIME OUT......

.....to calm down is another positive behaviour strategy we use in school. It is intended to be brief and enables children to have a short cooling off period.

Time Out works best when a child doesn’t want to miss Time in

AdaptabilityFamily Links is a programme based on

studies & research of successful interventions to improve self esteem & behaviour

It recognises that we are all individuals sometimes with very different experiences & backgrounds.

The framework & language can easily be adapted to suit peoples likes, experience, age, stage & understanding.
