Facebook for BusinessWhy Use It, and How to Start?
OverviewWhy does social media matter?
How can you get started?
Why does it matter?
Internet search started with directories edited by humans, like Yahoo! The Internet was small enough to categorize pages.
Why does it matter?
Search evolved to a Google algorithm, where computers could pick the page we want most. Eventually, people figured out how to game the system, and search has started to break down and become less useful.
Why does it matter?Facebook and other social media make it easier for us to search with the help of friends. When we want a plumber, or a restaurant recommendation, we can ask our 150 friends on Facebook, and get a personal recommendation that’s far more powerful than regular search.
How much is a Facebook fan worth?
One study says a Facebook fan is worth $136, on average. (Fans of big brands spend $136 more, on average, than non-fans.)
Another study says a fan is worth about $3-4 in traditional advertising, based on the number of people who see a typical posting on Facebook.
The point is that Facebook fans do have monetary value, if you cultivate them.
Landing tabs (like this one) let you customize the look for new visitors. You can include
a “call to action” that encourages them to like the
page, and give them an incentive to become a fan.

SOCIAL PLUGINSBEST WAY TO CONNECT FACEBOOK & YOUR WEBSITE
The “like button” lets you cut-and-paste some text and
put it on your website.
When you do that, the Facebook “like” button shows up on your own website. That way, when people click “like” on your website, it shows up on their Facebook page for
their friends to see.
LIKE BOX
The “Like Box” essentially puts the activity from your
Facebook page on your website. Great option if you
have a website, but don’t update it often. (Although you should update your website often anyway!)
