NBT website usage statistics

An examination of the NBT website

statistics over the past year

(September 2017—September

2018) revealed that the site is a well

as the NBT brochure, NBT

exemplars, and the NBT national

report.

The year saw 70489 downloads from the NBT website.

AQL exemplar questions in English were downloaded almost 10 000

times, while MAT English ex-

over 9000 downloads.

The English NBT brochure was

downloaded a total of 24109

times. Brochures in the other

official South African languages

accounted for 3393 downloads.

Interest in the NBT report was

CETAP’s NBT survey was sent out to 42744 NBT test writers at the end of August. At the close of

the survey on the 11th of September, 8943 responses had been recorded, generating a response

rate of 21%.

The results will be analysed and a report will be generated in October.

Some preliminary results are featured here:

More women (64%) than men (36%) responded to

the survey.

The majority of NBT writers wrote their tests in

Gauteng and the Western Cape.

A large proportion of NBT writers will

be relying on family, bursaries, or

financial aid to fund their university

studies.

NBT survey preliminary results

CETAP’s Director, Naziema Jappie attended the 20th International Conference on Gender and Education in Zurich, Switzerland from the 13th to the 14th September. She presented a paper on the Contribution of Women to Post-Colonial Education and Leadership.

The conference brought together researchers and scholars to exchange ideas and share their experiences on aspects of gender and education. It provided a platform to present and discuss the trends, concerns and challenges encountered around the globe.

Naziema Jappie attended a meeting with ETS Global in Amsterdam, which was focussed on collaboration between ETS Global and CETAP looking at Global Partnership Models and Potential in English-speaking Africa.

It was also an opportunity for CETAP to tap into product development and growth opportunities, particularly the TOEFL & TOEIC Family of Assessments, English Discoveries and Criterion.

The discussion also focussed on student retention in colleges by using WorkForce® Assessments for behavioral competen-cies.
