Many times, the mother and child both die for want of primary

healthcare – Women’s Groups can help

• Globally – every year 350,000 women and 3 million babies die around childbirth

• Life time risk 1 in 250in India ( 1 in 5900 in UK) . Majority are preventable

• Majority in low resourced countries – India is the country with the highest number of deaths (55000)
