Madhupa GamaralalageDiploma in Hospitality Management Level 5Rohan started a Diploma in International Cookery
and Patisserie Level 5 at NSIA in January 2015. Rohan was part of a three-person team that competed in the Nestle Toque d’Or event. The kitchen team and front of house team both won Silver Medals.
“The last two months were totally awesome; the training sessions were a great experience for me. I learnt a lot of things which will lead me as a good chef in the industry. All the fun, stress and handwork has finally paid off. This was the first cookery competition I had ever competed in; it was a total honour to be cooking with 36 young chefs from around New Zealand. I was really excited to compete on the day and I appreciate the support we got on the day by fellow students and NSIA staff. We tried our best to get a Gold medal, but I am still very happy with the result and ready to enter into the new world of culinary.” Rohan Kane
Madhupa started an NSIA Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 in January 2016 and was selected to represent NSIA at the Nestle Toque D’or Competition 2016. Madhupa represented the front of the house team and won a Silver medal, the kitchen team also won Silver.
“It was a great experience to train with Fabio, Landi and Ksenia. I have learnt so much from the seven weeks of training, and am very proud to achieve a silver medal. On the competition day, I was feeling a bit nervous, but I was fully confident with the training my tutors have given me. I would like to thank all the tutors of NSIA for their support and especially my three trainer’s well as Elie, and Lanthia too.” Madhupa Gamaralalage

Vo Thi Anh Thu (Alicia)Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5
Bhavesh started an NSIA Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 in April 2015 and was selected to compete in the NZ Chefs National Salon 2016. Bhavesh competed in the Classic Cocktail Training category where he won a Gold medal which was 3rd overall.
“It was an awesome training experience because my trainer treated me like a friend not a student; there was a high level respect throughout the training. He supported me in every step of the training and was extremely motivating even if I had made a mistake. On the day of the competition, I was so nervous, but Paul continued to encourage me and reminded me that I could do it! Thank you very much to my NSIA team and a special thank you to Paul Hill, I couldn’t have done this without you.” Bhavesh Kumar C. Patel
Alicia started an NSIA Diploma in Hospitality Management Level 5 in April 2016 and was selected to represent NSIA at the NZ Chefs Regional and National Salons 2016. Alicia competed in Classic Table Setting Training for both the competitions and won two gold medals. In the National Competitions, she also won top of Category.
“Starting as a newbie of NSIA at block 1, I did not have any knowledge of table setting or the hospitality industry. Being part of the Classic Table Setting Team a.k.a #teamawesome, I have learnt so much. We worked hard and all of our efforts paid off. I was a bit nervous before the competition because our journey was closer to the end. During that time, I was thinking that my competition experience was going to end soon, so I just did my best and will have no regrets later on. I am very grateful to have a trainer like Elie. I really respect the way he applies himself in what he’s doing without any complaints and never gives up.” Alicia
