Dr. Lai Asst. Professor of Chemistry
presents her research to Nano Café’“Big 9” crowd
presented byThe Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on January 20, 2011
Dr. Rebecca Lai
Dr.Lai’s Assistants• Assisting with Lai's talk and demonstration are graduate students Anita Zaitouna and Jennifer Gerasimov.
Dr.Lai’s DNA demonstration• A hands-on audience. Participation required!
Dr.Lai’s DNA demonstrationLai’s goal is to make a handheld biosensor similar to the glucose sensor, but for the detection of targets such as DNA and proteins. Electrochemical sensing has the potential for diverse applications, ranging from cancer detection to finding toxins, explosives and even cocaine in the body and in the environment.
Dr.Lai’s Current Research talk• Electrochemical sensing has the potential for diverse applications – to develop portable, real-time biosensors
Dr.Lai’s Audience• The Red 9 crowd responds favorably to Lai’s demo talk.
Dr. Lai Presents to a Mixed Audience• Audience successfully constructs a DNA spiral!
