• With more than 5 million members, the KKK had strong political influences. They lost popularity, however, when their financial corruption became public.• 1922 the NAACP started advertising the number of
lynchings taking place in the South.• Advocates like Marcus Garvey preached cultural strength
through independent businesses and communities.
• In 1929, The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) formed to protect Hispanic Americans
• Although most Native Americans were not citizens, many served in WWI. In 1924 the Indian Citizenship Act granted citizenship. However, the federal government also tried to buy back reservation land – but their attempt failed.
