GOLFGIFTSAND GAllERY REZONETuesday, December 14th, the Walworth

County Board denied the request by DeanChudyto rezone his property from R-1 to M-1.The motion to approve failed by a 7-4 vote.

Although the rezone request failed, theCounty Board did vote to amend the 2035Comprehensive Land Use Map to changeapproximately 4.5 acres from urban densityresidential to industrial land use. This passedwith a 6-5 vote. Mr. Chudy must wait 1 yearbefore he can submit another petition torezone.

ROAD REPAIRAND MAINTENANCEFarris, Hansen & Associates, Elkhorn, WI -

the same firm which represented Mr. Chudyin his rezone - has prepared a preliminary planfor road repair and maintenance for thecollector roadway providing access to GolfGifts & Gallery. The roadway in questionfollows the north shore of Powers lake provid-ing access to GG&Gfrom CountyHighwayF.InKenosha County,this road is named 87th St.,406th Ave.,85th St., and 402nd Ave. Farris,Hansen has obtained a preliminary quotationfrom Arbor Images for brush removal andtree pruning in the right of way. Anotherquotation was obtained from B.R. Amons forroad restoration. Clearing of the roadwaycould begin as soon as approval is given.Roadrepair would have to wait until the spring of2011.The total for both tree/brush trimming androad reconstruction is about $136,000 withan allowance of $14,000 for some additionaldrainage improvement. An amount of$20,000 for project administration, townagreements, engineering and inspectionsshould be allowed for, bringing the grand totalto $170,000. This project is not to be confused with theRandall's 3 million dollar local road improvementproject. Both matters will probably be on theagenda for the next RandallTown Board meetingon January 13th at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall. 55th ANNUAL ICEFISHINGDERBY F/t~'t.Scheduled for February 13th this year, the

Derby will once again raise funds for variousconservation projects. Hourly and then grandprizes are awarded for fish in seven categoriesfrom 12:00 to 4:00 p.rn.The event will end withthe Grand Slam and Super Slam Raffle and prizeswill be handed out for the biggest fish. Food andbeverage will be available. Please bundle up andcome over to the DNR ramp and join your neigh-bors for this wonderful community event.

SPEAKING FOR lAKESThere are amazing stewardship efforts occuring onour Wisconsin lakes every day. But are those whomake decisions about our lakes' future aware ofthese labors?This state-wide convention is a time to strengthenexisting partnerships and build new relationshipswith lake groups, citizen advocates, state agencies,elected officials and service providers.By incorporating new technology, effective methodsof communication, basic lake ecology and importantlake research, this gathering will give lake lovers thetools to "speak for their lakes".

RESOLUTION of the District of Powers LakeCounties of Kenosha & Walworth, WI

WHEREAS, an "Ad Hoc Committee of Powers Lake" met during 1984 to discuss the formation of theDistrict of Powers Lake and held one or more public meetings; and

WHEREAS, the District of Powers Lake was formed on February 19, 1985 by the adoption ofResolution No. 168 by the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors, Kenosha, WI; and

WHEREAS, the District of Powers Lake currently consists of 5 elected and 2 appointed commissionersas provided for in the By-Laws of the DistricLand in the st~tLJt~s..ofJh.~Slate. of VV~consin; and

WHEREAS, the District of Powers Lake in cooperation with the Southeastern Wisconsin RegionalPlanning Commission created "A Management Plan for Powers Lake" in November 1991; and

WHEREAS, the original organizers and successive commissioners of the District of Powers Lake havebeen proactive in the management of the District and the implementation of the Management Plan; and

WHEREAS, the District of Powers Lake has from time to time faced challenges from the natural andhuman environment, but has relied on the input and support of the members of the District;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the District of Powers Lake considers the service of theorganizers and the past and present commissioners of the District to be an invaluable resource andacknowledges the service of those persons (listed separately), and takes this opportunity to extend itssincere appreciation for their past and present service as memorialized by a certificate of appreciationand service presented at this Annual Meeting of the District.
