Volunteers will work in small inter-professional teams under the direction of
Development Together and local staff.
Health Volunteers will work alongside local staff to deliver health care, current
therapies and practices specific to client’s needs.
Education/Teaching Volunteers will assist local teachers with education and
curriculum development and inclusive education documentation.
Commerce/Business Volunteers will enhance administration and
documentation practices, and develop proforma documents that can be
used for annual reporting and data collection.
Marketing Volunteers will assist in the development of marketing strategies
to assist with communication and fundraising.
You will also have the opportunity to explore Indian culture in Kolkata during
your cultural orientation of the city.
Small groups of 4 will be accompanied by an experienced Health, Business
or Education/Teaching Professional, who will provide guidance and support.
They will also act as a liaison between you and local staff. Small groups with
less than 4 people, or individuals, will receive in-country support from local
staff and remote support from Development Together staff.
Clinical and/or professional, interpersonal, leadership and communication
skills. Team work, critical thinking, cultural awareness and how to work in an
environment with limited resources.
Make a difference to others, gain confidence, be part of a community, take
on a challenge, experience personal growth and have fun!
Spend time at our partner site, Shishur Sevay (Childlife Preserve Shishur
Sevay), in Kolkata (Calcutta), India.
University/College Students (Undergraduate or Postgraduate) studying
Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Marketing,
Finance and Education/Teaching (Early Childhood, Primary or
Secondary), who have completed at least the 2nd year of their studies.
Also open to Professionals in these fields.
Health: Experience working with clients with Cerebral Palsy and/or Eye
Tracking Technology is preferable but not essential.
Commerce/Marketing: Experience using Photoshop and Desktop
Publishing is preferable but not essential.
