ABOUT US
DIHAD was launched in 2004 as the Middle-East’s first ever humanitarian aid and development event, thereby creating a regional platform for the vital exchange of ideas and values in these domains.
Over the years, DIHAD has grown into one of the largest humanitarian and development assistance fora, as it brings together practitioners and decision-makers from leading international organizations, NGOs, governmental bodies, charities, aid workers, foundations, media, academia, and the private sector to join their hands to address the global needs of the people and countries affected by crises, disasters and natural calamities.
DIHAD is considered now the region’s sole humanitarian voice, a forum that addresses many issues facing the world today.
WHY DUBAI?
Dubai has become the world most important global logistics hub for the distribution of humanitarian aid
In 2003, the International Humanitarian City (IHC) was founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. Today IHC is the largest humanitarian hub in the world with the most diverse members including 9 United Nations agencies, and nearly 70 NGOs and businesses working in the aid sector.
UN and NGO members import and trans-ship massive amounts of aid supplies worth hundreds of millions of dollars with the complete support and generosity of the UAE Government.
Based in Dubai, IHC has a strategic location allowing rapid relief to be within reach in all corners of the world. It also plays a critical role in facilitating first responses to crises at a global level efficiently.
