Where do I start?Collect your materials
Back-up and save your work! Twice! Document the purpose of each piece, important
concepts and reflect on it (personal assessment) Do not be afraid to make corrections!
Conceptualize your thoughts
You need to know the content and materials for your website; then you need to know your direction.
Information ArchitectureThe combination of organization, labeling, and
navigation schemes within an information system
Categorize your sections to best organize your information and gives an overview of what you do
NavigationHow do you go about establishing your
navigational scheme? Storyboard Storyboard Storyboard
Navigation In today’s society, we are constantly looking
for tools that make navigation easy Street signs Maps GPS
All make our life easy to navigate from point A to point B (then to C, D, etc.)
NavigationThink of it in terms of grocery shopping. You
look for signs to guide you where you want to go and find what you are looking for.
The process usually goes, you look for the sign, but if you can’t find what you are looking for, you ask for help.
Once you find it, you have mental model on how to find it in the future.
DesignDo NOT begin by designing your site or sitting
down at the computer; this comes after you have planned and organized your content
Emerging Technology and Multimedia: begin by sketching out ideas and concepts
Other majors: You can go to websites like Wordpress or Weebly to build your website
Digital NarrativeThe portfolio should tell the story of YOU
