disconnect the power connector.
13.Remove regulator assembly from door andreplace with new assembly.
Cause of failure
From my observations, the design of this regulator assembly and motor is flawed. The center brace that
actually clamps on to the window is driven up/or down by a single cable. Were the cable connects to thebrace is where the component failure occurs. Since the motor applies continuous force during the roll up
action, the plastic housing isconstantly stressed and eventually
fails. As illustrated here, the cablehas a square metal section that fits
into a plastic slot that is connectedto the window clamp. This section
supports the weight of the windowand drives the window up and
down. Once the top section of thisslot fails, the weight of the window
is no longer supported and cannotbe rolled up. The bottom portion of
the slot may remain in tact and thatis why the window may continue to
operate with the down action.Applying epoxy to the damaged
portion may actually fix theproblem, assuming no other damage
has been done by continuousattempted operating of the already failed system. The replacement system appeared to have used some
type of resin to re-attach and re-seal the failure point.
