Supporting coworkings growthThe story of Deskmag & Deskwanted
Many people have requested a full set of the charts andgraphs from the 2nd Global Coworking Survey. Thatswhy weve created this booklet.
Were obsessed with information. We cant help it. Oneof us is a social scientist, the other a journalist. Whenwe find something we like, we research and write aboutit.
The data presented here are the result of our quest for
information. Since we came into contact with the co-working movement, weve wanted to research it, trackit and graph it.
Thats why we started Deskmagin 2009. Having beenaround some of the founding coworking spaces in Eu-rope, we saw a need for detailed analysis and report-ing on the concept. More than that, we wanted to helpcoworking develop as a worldwide movement, to learnfrom its setbacks, and to share experiences.
Since launching Deskmag in mid-2010, we have twicecarried out the most rigorous and illuminating study ofcoworking (the outcome of which you are now reading).
But writing about coworking wasnt enough. Throughour research and discussions with coworking space op-erators, we realized there was a need for an online toolfor coworking spaces.
In late 2010 we launched Deskwanted, the cowork-ing portal, which we designed ourselves and built on ashoestring budget. Were now improving Deskwantedto include more tools and functions to make running a
coworking space easier. Both Deskmagand Deskwantedspring from our desireto provide the coworking movement with informationand tools.
We hope you find them useful, and continue to give usfeedback on how we can improve!
Note: This booklet contains an uncommented versionset of charts. If you are looking for written analysis andcommentary, refer to the Deskmag website, where we
regularly write about the figures presented here.Carsten Foertsch and Joel DullroyFounders, Deskmag and Deskwanted
