VOYAGE INAUGURATION OF FORUM WIZONICS
The Forum of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, “WIZONICS 2019-20” was
inaugurated on 23-08-2019. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Vinayaka R Deskar, Avionics Engineer,
Team Lead, Collins Aerospace, Bengaluru. The Guest of Honor was Mr. Vinay B N, Physical Design Engineer,
Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. Both of the guests are the proud Alumni of our institution. The
event was presided over by Dr. Y Vijaya Kumar, Principal, GMIT, Davangere. The event was conducted under
the guidance of the Forum Chairman, Dr. Hadimani H C, HOD, Department of E&CE, GMIT, Davangere.
Forum coordinators Mr. Vikas C Yatnalli, Ms. Nagaveni S A and the Faculty Forum Treasurer Mr.
Sharanabasaveshwara H B were present on the stage along with student Vice President, Mr. Sanjay U, General
Secretary, Ms. Varshini S B and student Treasurer Mr. Basavraj Hiremath. All the teaching and non-teaching
staff and all the students of department had attended the event.

FORUM ACTIVITIES
The summary of various activities conducted under Wizonics for the academic
year 2019-20 odd semester is as follows:
On spot story building competition was conducted on 16-08-2019 to ignite
creative thinking in students and to improve the presentation skills of the
students.
On the same day, Circuits Mania even was conducted to impart practical
knowledge into the students and give them hands-on experience regarding
simple applications of the Timer IC.
To help the students improve their communication and time management
skills, Group Discussion was conducted on 30-08-2019.
The event Logo Abbreviation was conducted on 06-09-2019 with the
objective to instigate the idea of entrepreneurship skills in the students
and help them improve their creativity, time management and presentation
skills.
A talk on leadership, communication and entrepreneurship was organized
to instigate the idea of entrepreneurship skills in the students and help
them improve their communication skills and leadership skills.
Super Minute was conducted on 27-09-2019.
A technical talk was conducted on 04-10-2019 to provide an insight to the
students on presenting the ideas through PPTs and posters and also on
conduction of research using journal publications.
A two day workshop on “MATLAB and its Applications” was conducted
from 09-10-2019 to 10-10-2019 by the resource persons Mr. Mallesh V S,
Technical Manager and Mr. Shivaraj V S, Product Application Engineer from
Abeyaantrix Softlab, Davangere.
A Technical Presentation competition was conducted on 11-10-2019 to
enhance the technical knowledge of the students through presentations.

Mr. Amith Gaikwad, 7th semester student from our department participated
in a national level technical symposium called PALASMA-19 organized by
JNNCE, Shivamogga, presented a paper titled “Advancing Hand Gesture
Recognition with High Resolution Electrical Impedance Tomography” and
secured FIRST place and also received a cash prize of Rs. 3000.
Ms. Nagaveni S A and Ms. Vinutha L B, Assistant Professors, completed the
NPTEL course on “Introduction to Research” and received ELITE+SILVER
grade.
Mr. Santosh Herur, Assistant Professor, completed the NPTEL course on
“Digital Image Processing” and received ELITE grade.
Mr. Rajendra Soloni, Assistant Professor, completed the NPTEL course on
“Microwave Theory and Techniques” and received ELITE grade.
Mr. Sharanabasaveshwara HB, Assistant Professor, completed the NPTEL
course on “Digital Image Processing” and received ELITE+SILVER grade.
