VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL BEGINS THIS SUNDAY!
Cure For the Summer-Slouch! (At West Main)
Church members and staff alike fear the dreaded Summer-Slouch! The month of May suggests we’re sliding our way into it. The cure? Stand up straight? Well, something like that: 1) Be Aware! 2) Take Corrective Action!
When not traveling, come to church on Sunday morning. Continue to enjoy Christian fellowship in Bible study and worship throughout your summer months.
Be consistent in your financial support. West Main’s monthly financial commitments to support ministries and missions continue unchanged in May, June, July, and August; unfortunately, so do our fixed operating expenses (AC and other essential utilities, expenses such as printing, mailings, children’s arts & crafts supplies, diapers and wipes in the nursery—you name it! If we need it September – April, we need it in the summer months, too.) Summer Giving Options When Away: • Mail your check or give it early (Billie Jo will wait to
deposit post-dated checks) • Utilize your bank’s bill pay service • Give online: go to our website and click the DONATE
button or download the “Simple Give” app on your mobile device and follow the instructions.
From the Missions Committee… As you know, we did not meet our WMMO goal this year. Even though we collected $29,521 we were short $3,659. The committee
decided to reduce the amount allocated to Friends of Barnabas by $1,900 and use $1,759 from the surplus of previous years. Reducing FOB still leaves us enough money to send three team members. It took a little prayer and work, but we came up with a great plan where we could still support our missions and no one would suffer a large loss. Thank you to everyone for your support of these wonderful missions!

WORSHIP THIS WEEK
JUNE 9, 2019 11:00 A.M.
Gary Dalton’s Topic: The Holy Ghost Transit Authority
Acts 2: 1-21 We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper
Happy Birthday to Jessica Zagol and Sydni Shelton who have birthdays on June 30. Their names were accidentally cut off the
bottom of the June birthday list.
The Sanctuary Choir will be taking a much-deserved break for the summer, which will give choir members a chance to sit with their families during worship. They will sing for the last time on June 30 and return in September. Rehearsals will resume in late August. We appreciate the hard work, time and commitment they each give to our Worship Services. For July and August, the worship anthem time will consist of different forms, including vocal, instrumental and keyboard.
While the Interim Pastor's Away… Rev. Dalton will be away on vacation Thursday, June 13, through Wednesday, June 26. For the week of Monday, June 17, through Saturday, June 22, West Mainer Rev. Jeffrey Wright will be on call to respond to any pastoral needs. Please contact the Church Office if you have any pastoral concerns for which you normally would call upon Rev. Dalton, and Rev. Wright will assist you. Jeff brings to West Main a long career in pastoral ministry, including serving as Pastor of Moffett Memorial Baptist Church, Danville. For the other days Rev. Dalton is away, the ministry staff will be available to assist you.
PASSPORTkids camp is June 18-21st. Please keep these children and their chaperones in your prayers while they’re away: Brodie Buchanan, Pearson Wales, Colton Payne, Sarah Grace Doggett, Ginna Burton, Madison Syvanthong, Jennifer Clatterbuck, Jon Stephens and Frances Carlton.
Pray especially that this will be a transformative experience as they learn about being fearless in their faith and that our group will have a fun & safe week at camp!
This is our 2019 PASSPORT camp theme and it feels like the perfect motto for us to adopt here at West Main as we head into the summer months. All of us working together to stay awake, stand firm, be brave and love always as a church family will help our congregation stay strong and healthy as we move towards the future. Jennifer
